Just kitbashed these two from the chaos lord sets i had laying about for my iron warriors, i'm wondering if i could use them both as warp smiths for the army? I know warpsmiths can't take terminator armor, but they do get the 2+ save from it, and i haven't got anything to show the 'mechatendrils'
If not, i suppose they could work as lords?

You can use Grots as Warpsmiths if you want. WYSIWYG isn't a thing. Even from a "Should look a little like the unit they are meant to represent" standpoint they are fine.

I personally really dig the way Chaos mechadenrils/Imperial mechadendrites look. And servo arms. IF you can find a way to fix it. If not they're still totally neat!

Not enough tentacles but otherwise you're good in my book.

Sure, but yeah they'd need some Techmarine-esque bits to finish them. Also the power-sword bit on the left figure would look better chopped down a bit.
Add some servo-arms/harness/etc.

I've ordered some of the kromlech sets for their engineers, to finish these guys off.

I'd say they need a bit more 'stuff' on them. Maybe some bionic parts, tentacles, mechatendrils, a servo arm, servo skulls or something like that. At present, they just look like regular terminators to me.

He already said he ordered engineer bits (servo arms / flamers / the works) from Kromlech so I'd say he's covered

I don't think they're particularly attractive but they seem to fit the aesthetic and I doubt you'd get any arguments otherwise. I don't care for the ice cream cones though.

Sweet heresy...they look really good. Give them an Iron Warrior paint scheme, go on you know you want to.
To answer your question, you would get two thumbs up from me to use them as warpsmiths.
|
Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you. |
