Subject: Models with "realistic" proportions for Imperial Guard

Black Templar Recruit Undergoing Surgeries
|
Hello,
Starting an Imperium army from scratch, I want to build/paint/play some more realistically proportionned models in a friendly environment.
With the Primaris Marines my strike-team needs are covered, the human heroes have many options, but what about the imperial guard masses?
The GW cadians are short-legged and very stocky, just like the catachans and tempestus scions, so I went on the internet and came with these options :
Puppets War soldiers: well proportionned but posability is limited.
https://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=336
Mantic Games Warpath & Star Saga: well proportionned with a scifi look that fits the imperial asthetic with a bit of work.
http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/star-saga/product/corporation-minion-booster.html
DreamForge games: Obvious choice except the whole space-nazi thing really isn't my cup of tea. With Headswaps maybe could work.
https://dreamforge-games.com/collections/infantry/products/eisenkern-stormtrooper-rifle-squad
The other manufacturers I came accross did not meet my somewhat-realistic-proportions criteria, but I surely have mised some.
Do you have other options in mind? Did you do the same, and if yes how?
Praise the Emperor,
JB

No particular suggestions, but I wouldn't worry about posing. You're going to have so many dudes you'll be grateful to batch paint the same pose several times over as it goes quicker.

Genestealer Cult Neophytes with a headswap. Gorgeous minis. Autoguns have same stats as Lasguns in 40K so you don’t even need to swap the basic weapons. There should be enough non-claws-y arms in each box to make up a human squad.

IMO, the old metal guardsmen were better proportioned.

Dependent on the style of guard aesthetic you're going for, you'll find much more realistic proportions in a lot of historical kits. For example, I've got a box of Perry Miniatures Zulu War British that I'm planning on making Praetorians out of. The advantage is that the historical stuff is often quite a lot cheaper, though you need to convert/sculpt/kitbash for appropriate 40k weapons. My current thought is to leave the rifles for the regular troopers (Martini-Henry pattern Lasgun...) but convert the specials and kitbash the heavies onto Victorian style artillery carriages.

As a previous poster said, the DKOK from Forge World are far better proportioned than Cadians and look realistic. They also look thoroughly badass.
