I'm a bit unsure if I understand how this would work, if it even works.

I take a squad of Breachers. I opt to give them their unique shield drone. If I then opt to place the Breachers in a Devilfish, how would this drone deploy? Or can they not take a drone at all if they are being put in a transport. Would the drone deploy with the Breachers when they disembark? I know the drones are supposed to deploy when the unit does, but with transports they aren't really 'deploying' in the traditional manner.

My head hurts. Am I over thinking?

Drones deploy in the transport taking up 1 space unless its a recon drone.

5 firewarriors plus 1 shield drone are 6 spaces used in the transport.

Drones have no exception to the Transport rules.

Alrighty, sounds good! Just wanted to make sure. The drones felt weird as they say they deploy with the unit but otherwise aren't part of the unit, so i wasn't sure how they'd deploy if the unit itself isn't technically deployed.

Drones have no exception to the Transport rules.

Except with the Tidewalls, in that case the troops can deploy into the Tidewall and the drones setup outside.. Glad they fixed that in the codex.
