I am building a death watch army for the upcoming codex and I'm using all prinaris. Now how can I get the different shoulder pads for various chapters so I can represent them all? I have never played any Imperial army before and don't know if each chapters shoulder pads will be in the boxes

Hell if I know, practice your painting?

Personally, I think going all Primaris is a bad idea both in terms of modelling and in the game, but you basically will have to go to Bitz websites/Ebay to find the chapter-specific shoulder pads from the Deathwatch Kill Team box for the right arms. For the left arms, you'll be wanting the Deathwatch upgrade sprue to get the proper Deathwatch shoulderpads.

Alternatively, practice your freehand for the chapter-specific shoulders. I've actually had a lot of fun painting on chapter badges that dont see a lot of coverage outside of a token mention in a WD article and even tossed in some video game logos as Easter eggs.

You get Chapter shoulder pads on the Kill Team (Veterans) sprue. I would be surprised if they are included in any Primaris kits.

The good news is the 5-man Veterans sprues come with at least 16 chapter shoulder pads. Get one and you can do up a Primaris squad (assuming normal SM shoulder pads fit Primaris - I don't know.)

Just spouting ideas here, but how about waiting for the Codex before going all Primaris? From what I've seen, all-Primaris might be sub-optimal.

Thanks for the advice. Do those kill team shoulder pads fit primaris marines if I go that route?

The shoulder pads for normal tacs fit Primaris fine. Also, the terminator shoulder pads fit Agressors.

The Deathwatch seems to be a super good for a all Primaris army. The only non-primaris model you might want to add is the Watch Master, as he provides better re-rolls and an ability to switch the mission tactic cheaper. Then again, nothing is stopping you from using a Primaris model for him. Just get one of those Custodes bolter-spear bits and glue it on a Primaris model.

As for shoulderpads, it might be easier to use transfers. Those are cheap, and most Space Marine players have a lot of leftover transfers, so if you know any marine players in your area, that might be a good source of transfers. Also the Dark Imperium box comes with a lot of transfers for different chapters.

As for Dark Imperium, it is a really good source for Primaris marines, but unfortunately the shoulder pads are moulded on. Carving them off and replacing with DW pads is not hard though, so you might want to get some DW upgrade sprues and do that.
