I'm really happy with this guy, my purple version of Nathaniel Garro! I had to work with a guy who wanted a level i'm not used to painting and his examples were all models airbrushed so I had to really push myself to not give up and at least have a go!

The purple armour was just going to be a nice high contrast armour but ended up being kind of my first go at nmm? not sure how correct it is but hey it looks cool! and the glow from the sword was meant to be subtle but I think I got that right as well? his face sadly gave me issues, there was a tiny miscast on his lip/nose which as you can imagine made for a big issue from such a small problem, the slightest bump or blemish and you can really see it at that scale, but again I feel I've done the best I can with what was there (and this was legit FW)

overall I like the look of the more gritty realistic base style with the polished and clean Garro, it's a nice mash up.

Aside from the fact I'm biasedly in favour of pretty much anything painted purple, it's the rich metallics that really caught my eye. They compliment the purple beautifully while I'm struck with the impression of an old, weathered penny you find in a pair of jeans where the edges are lightly polished by the denim.

That's now 2 Garro models I've seen which have made me look at the horribly embellished breastplate in a different light.

High praise indeed! and a lovely thoughtful response! the gold was actually a bit of a trip as after I'd painted it the guy I painted it for wanted me to add more red tones to the model, so I added red to the gold and it turned into a perfect rendition of either rose gold or copper :-) .................then he wanted it back to gold, so I added a wash of sepia and then more gold and it turned out as you see!

Greetings, Great paint work on Your model! I really like the sculpt except for the over sized crest on the chest piece. The purple looks really nice! I like the fluff behind Nathaniel Garro. I had considered getting the model when it first came out but I will wait a little longer.

Wow. Garro. One of my favourites characters from the Horus Herecy books.

Nice colour sheme. Specially the sword reflection. Also the face is very good painted. I gived up painting faces a long time a go. Now I only paint helms.
