Hi all. I've been working on my IG army for about 5 years now. I take an annual company photo around this time each year. It started off as a desire to field whatever I wanted in a normal game. Then it turned into a desire to field whatever I wanted in an apocalypse game... So I present to you, The Fightin' 49th! It's approximately 37,000 points. I've hand painted all models except for the 2 titans, known as The Sistine Sisters. Those were done by GMM Studios. So if you want much better photos of those guys, check out GMM's webpage. http://www.gmmstudios.net/

And preemptive apology for photo quality. All I have is my cell phone camera, and the lighting in my apartment sucks.

Enjoy!

Spoiler:

Armor Section

Super Heavy Section

Heroes of the Guard

I painted the doves blue because I've never seen a blue dove before. And to be honest, I wanted to see a blue dove.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Inquisitors

30 Red Pad Heavy Weapons Teams

The commissariat and 20 domesticated Gretchin that count as Servitors. Because GW Servitors are expensive. And yes, I realize the irony in that.

200 Black Pad Infantry

72 Blue Pad Special Weapons Infantry

20 Scions. Getting more is on my list of things to do

90 White Pad Conscripts

Crusaders. They all start with white shields, then as they accomplish feats on the battlefield they receive heraldry. Front squad killed an Ad Mech Infantry unit. So 4th guy from the left got the honor on his shield.

60 Veterans

40 Brown Pad Hades Infantry

Converted Hydra Platforms

Basilisk Batteries

This is incredible! I don't think I have ever seen an army this size painted and modeled to such a high and consitstent level.

This is something to be proud of.

That is a metric ton of Imperial Guard models!

Good to see there is a Hellhammer in the Baneblade line up.

It is amazing to see so many model amassed!

Great work!

First and foremost, it's incredibly impressive seeing a Regiment-Sized force.

Second, nice job on the painting. It's nice to see the level of effort put into this.

You say Fiery Crash! I say Dynamic Entry!

*Increases Game Point Limit by 100*: Tau get two Crisis Suits and a Firewarrior. Imperial Guard get two infantry companies, artillery support, and APCs.

Evidently this will not do. You need 3000 more points of guard to reach the mandatory 40K limit. And probably a new table to display them to boot

Smith Jamison: We aren't here, which means when we open up on you and shred your bodies with automatic fire then this will never have happened.

This is amazingly awesome. Serious question, how long does it take to lay them out like that?

Also when I saw that it was 37,000 points and you started 5 years ago I was like these are not going to be painted that well, that's an average of over 7,000 points a year over 5 years. I am not surprised to ever hear of a non-professional painter slamming out 7,000 points in a year, but its super impressive when they do that every year for 5 years. Anyways happy to be wrong, everything looks amazing.

Thanks everyone! The army has definitely been a labor of love (and hate at points).

I live in California. Cost of living is so damn high that I'll probably live in a tiny apartment my whole life. But on the bright side the cost of a Leman Russ is the same for me as it is for someone in Texas!

Don't worry! I've still got another 5,000 or so points left to paint before I'll consider the army complete. But yeah, next year's photo is probably going to have to be on the floor.

Good question! Probably takes about 3 hours to set up. Vehicles go fast, but lining up all those little infantry takes forever. Luckily, alcohol helps break up the monotony.

And those titans are 10,000 points. So only averaging about 5,400 points a year. Plus, I've gotten really good at assembly line painting. Can probably bust out 75 infantry or 6-8 tanks a month if there's minimal interruption in my life.

I think you misspelled right there. The correct spelling is Teenage Perfectly Pure Genetically Human Ninja Inquisitors.
