So after looking at the releases for titanicus, im wondering, do you think this could be the return of epic? I ask because it seems that not only are they putting out the 3 kits (warlord, reaver, knights) But they are also releasing plastic buildings, and they are putting out a resin tile. That seems like a whole lot for just a side game. Even games like necromonda only got a cardboard tile board.

Personally i really hope that FW pics up epic and makes a HH Epic game. Whats your thoughts?

Possibly, sometime down the line. More likely to expand it to 40K first to bring in all the other factions titan level units (the slides shown off did say 'Initially' next to it being Horus Heresy).

Thats what im guessing as well. But i do find it really interesting there is no warhound model, I wonder if there was an issue in production.

This is how the orginal epic started. Titans then troops. I got a small Ork force that can't wait!

The warhound has been announced for 2 months after the initial launch (the reaver is 1 month after launch) but they've said a couple of times that the rescaling of these models has been very time consuming so I'm guessing it's still a wip at this point.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Epic could see a return if the sales are good enough but as Imateria mentioned we will probably get some of the alien factions first.

One interesting note is during the presentation the information blurb for titanicus had the line "Set during the Horus Heresy(initially)" So they seem ready to bring this into the 40k timeline in some fashion if it does well.

I just want to see them do an Imperator!! That Titan sold me on GW and 40K decades ago and its still one of my most favourite concepts - a freaking walking castle covered in weapons!

One bonus is that because of the nature of the Imperium titans basically don't change. So they can set it during Horus Heresy and do some really limited release where both sides are basically using the same models; and if it does well they can advance it to more modern 40K times and, the original models remain totally viable and they can add in other factions.

Honestly even if they never bring back troops and tanks if they just stick to walking battle titans; thundering crawling ork gargants; slender eldar titans and masses of claws and tyranid beasties

I hope the game is slower and more detailed. Not to the level of Battletech, but a bit along that path.

The original demo for this new [see forum posting rules] scale used 40k scale Titans and tanks, the stated intention being that the new game will be scalable. And I’m in. I still have my old Space Marine set with the 6 beetle-back Warlords, as well as all my Imperitors, Knights, tanks and infantry. Sure, none of that will be to the new scale, but the new scale looks awesome!

They should first reintroduce the Ork & Eldar Titans before bringing other epic units like infantry, tanks, etc. back into the game. But to be honest, I really doubt that this game will be successful. Big stompy robot games don´t draw crowds like 40K and WHFB. Titanicus also has to be better from a rules perspective than it´s direct competitor Battletech.
I won´t buy any Titanicus stuff because I am already commited to IKR which scratches the same itch.

in fairness mind you Battletech is dying a slow death (I say this as a FAN of the franchise) so the time is ripe to supplant it

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Battletech is also very niche - heck google the term alone and you land on the battletech game that came out a few days ago way before you hit the models. I'd say its been a niche miniatures game for years - at least in the UK; USA it might have a stronger following.

GW can certainly replace it with another huge mech game; especially if they are putting great terrain in the boxes and thus giving players epic cities to fight over. I'd say the only serious competition would be Monster Apoc from PP at this stage.

If Titanicus gets released as a separate game to WH40K we will move discussion into the appropriate forum, possibly Specialist Games.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

That´s a pity. I played it more than twenty years ago with my buddy. The rules were fine but to be honest most of the models were not my cup of tea and so I went to play Space Marine (now called Epic) where I could field Imperial/Eldar Titans and Gargants.
Why is it dying a slow death? Are most of the models still awful or have the rules changed for the worse? Maybe people just prefer to play the video game version of Battletech.
I went to a convention near my home town a few months ago. People also had the opportunity to participate there in a Battletech tournament. Most of the competitors were of an advanced age. So maybe they failed to recruit the next generation for this game.

Actually btech is growing, in the 90's they stopped because the original owner retired, then whizkids got the right and ruined it with the awful Mechwarrior game.

But catalyst has done a good job bringing stuff back they've got a solid points system that balances things really well.

Btech takes a while to play it your using the full depth of rules so it's not for everyone.

Alphastrike is where you to for large battles played quickly.
