Hello, fellow conscripts.

So a friend told me, while I was building a list, that I cannot take more than three Leman Russ tanks- and that applies to all unit types except troops? I was so excited to building a Russ gunline army and was decimated when I learned this... My plan was to take battle cannons and Punisher cannons for my gunline, and now I don't know what to take... Here's my list so far

3 LeMans with Pask and Tank commanders in spearhead detachment (Cadian)

90 conscripts with a Lord Commissar and 2 Company Commanders in battalion detachment (Valhallan)

90 conscripts with 2 Lord commissars and a company commander in batallion detachment (Valhallan)

I hope you can help... What else should I take, or what should I change?

Umh...isnt the limit per dataslate?
The Russ unit can consist of 1-3 tanks, so that should mean you can maximum have 9 tanks (3 units of 3 tanks each).

It's a squadron unit. 1-3 counts as a single unit. Just like my 10-30 Boyz is a single unit.

Agreed. You may take THREE DATA (or Unit(s)) sheets of Leman Russ', of which each DATA SHEET (or Unit(s)) may contain 1-3 tanks. The parenthesis and units I added as simply a different way to think of each data sheet if it helps. So, you may include 9 leman russ tanks in your army, Plus up to 3 tank commander data sheets AND Pask. If you're playing a points total that high...
Just my own opinion on your list. You might rethink Conscripts because of the cost changes etc (in Chapter Approved I believe). Also, make sure to read the FAQ's on commissar rule changes and such. You may know this but it did drastically change the way conscripts work. Might save you the cost of models, time assembling etc.

You can also add in up to 3 datasheets of each of the FW variants which often come in squadrons of 1-3 as well. So yes you can still have functionally unlimited Lemans.

also isn't the "rule of 3" more of a "reccomendation of 3"?

Oh yeah, that's what I meant

If your like me (own 12.... I just couldn’t stop buying them when I was a kid and when I got back into the game had like 6 basic ones and have magnetized 6 with the options that didn’t exist when I was a kid) you can run 12 if you feel like ever breaking them out by taking 3 groups of 3 with an additional 3 tank commanders

and if some are Forgeworld variants, you can take even more!

But just standard Codex ones you could get 13. 9 LRBT, 3 TC, 1 Pask - if you are playing the optional 'rule of 3'.

Max 9 russ, 3 russ commander, 1 pask, whole bunch of FW versions, index russ demolishers...You'll run out points before you'll run out of russ bodies you can field.

Just like max 3 detachments is "suggestion". Yet in practice I see pre-measurement more of optional than either of those 2 "suggestions"
