Hello,

I am looking to see A) which of these two lists is more competitive, and B) how to make it as competitive as possible. I'd like to have a tournament list ready for the next tournament at my store (likely in June or July). I have not played in a 40k tournament since early 7th edition, but I've had much success with casual games so far since I've returned to 40k.

As a Khorne enthusiast, I will not be playing objectives. Regardless of the objectives, I will be playing to table the enemy or kill off as many units as possible. My force doesn't play to win, they play for blood. This might sound contradictory for a competitive scenario, but please keep this mindset in mind if you decide to help me out. I'm looking for an optimized list for a competitive setting that focuses on killing the enemy force within 5 turns and 1.5 hours.

List #1:

Khorne Demon Battalion (+1 CP)
340 - Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage - Armor of Scorn, Immense Power
180 - Demon Prince of Khorne - Wings, Skullreaver (-1 CP)
200 - 25 Bloodletters - Instrument, Banner of Blood (-1 CP), Denizens (-2 CP)
70 - 10 Bloodletters
70 - 10 Bloodletters
120 - 8 Flesh Hounds of Khorne

World Eaters Battalion (+4 CP)
74 - Exalted Champion of Khorne - Power Maul, Chainsword
76 - Dark Apostle of Khorne - Brass Collar of Borghaster (-1 CP)
157 - 8 Khorne Berzerkers - x8 Chainswords, x7 Chainaxes, Power Fist, Icon
157 - 8 Khorne Berzerkers - x8 Chainswords, x7 Chainaxes, Power Fist, Icon
157 - 8 Khorne Berzerkers - x8 Chainswords, x7 Chainaxes, Power Fist, Icon
72 - Khorne Rhino
72 - Khorne Rhino
72 - Khorne Rhino
180 - Blood Slaughterer - Slaughterblade

1997
8 CP

List #2:

Khorne Demon Battalion Detachment (+1 CP)
180 - Demon Prince of Khorne - Wings, Armor of Scorn, Glory of Battle
180 - Demon Prince of Khorne - Wings, Skullreaver (-1 CP)
214 - 27 Bloodletters - Instrument, Banner of Blood (-1 CP), Denizens (-2 CP)
70 - 10 Bloodletters
70 - 10 Bloodletters
75 - 5 Flesh Hounds

World Eaters Battalion Detachment (+4 CP)
74 - Exalted Champion of Khorne - Power Maul, Chainsword
76 - Dark Apostle of Khorne - Brass Collar of Borghaster (-1 CP)
157 - 8 Khorne Berzerkers - x8 Chainswords, x7 Chainaxes, Power Fist, Icon
157 - 8 Khorne Berzerkers - x8 Chainswords, x7 Chainaxes, Power Fist, Icon
157 - 8 Khorne Berzerkers - x8 Chainswords, x7 Chainaxes, Power Fist, Icon
72 - Khorne Rhino
72 - Khorne Rhino
72 - Khorne Rhino
180 - Blood Slaughterer - Slaughterblade
190 - Predator Annihilator of Khorne

1996

They are not terribly different. Really, it's just a Bloodthirster versus a Predator/Demon Prince.

You could do a supreme command detachment with the thirster and two deamon princes and get rid of rest of the deamons. While this gets rid of the blood letter bomb and dogs for physic defense, you get three targets for the enemy to pull fire away from the berserkers. With the left over points you can try to add as much shooting as possible, maybe some helbrutes or forgeworld dreadnoughts.

Well, I don't have 2 Demon Princes, my plan was to use the Bloodthirster as a Demon Prince when not using it as a Bloodthirster. Though, I do love the idea of 2 Demon Princes and a Bloodthirster! I don't think I'd have any spare points, though. I mean, 50 Bloodletters is roughly the same cost. I'll write up a list and see what I can do, but I'll be at less Command Points and I'd lose my bloodletter bomb. I have found they are so useful at assassination heavy infantry. Like, those bloodletters are very cheap and they butcher elites like terminators, primaris, or anything with a 3+ or better save. I usually throw them at whatever has the best armor and isn't a vehicle.

So... I came up with this:

Khorne Demons Supreme Command Detachment (+0)
340 - Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage - Armor of Scorn, Immense Power
180 - Demon Prince of Khorne - Wings, Skullreaver (-1 CP)
180 - Demon Prince of Khorne - Wings, x2 Malefic Claws

World Eaters Battalion Detachment (+4)
74 - Exalted Champion of Khorne - Power Maul, Chainsword
76 - Dark Apostle of Khorne - Brass Collar of Borghaster (-1 CP)
157 - 8 Khorne Berzerkers - x8 Chainswords, x7 Chainaxes, Power Fist, Icon
157 - 8 Khorne Berzerkers - x8 Chainswords, x7 Chainaxes, Power Fist, Icon
157 - 8 Khorne Berzerkers - x8 Chainswords, x7 Chainaxes, Power Fist, Icon
72 - Khorne Rhino
72 - Khorne Rhino
72 - Khorne Rhino
190 - Predator Annihilator of Khorne
190 - Predator Annihilator of Khorne

1917
7 CP

What about the last 83 points? I guess I could spam combi-bolters that I'll forget to use lol.

Also, I don't have a 2nd Demon Prince or a 2nd Predator... but hey, one can dream!
