Hey everyone

At the moment I am looking for they best expansion for my dark imperium primaris. I am going to be getting a know no fear box with my friend which will give me more troops and helblasters however I have little cash remaining and want to spend it in the most efficient manor. I want to add some armor and AT to my army however I feel like 2 repulsors may be overkill. I have a land raider crusader on hand from my space wolves which I could use as anti infantry support if I get the dread however I am torn.

TLDR; Short on cash and looking for suggestions on expanding primaris beyond Dark imperium

Cheers

Leviathan with grav flux bombards.

Hefty outlay but should see you good. Probably save you money in the long run lest it gets nerfed into the ground.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I don't feel like going for forge world since I am going for only primaris for now. Cheers for the suggestion though

No probs. I am sure others can give far better suggestions.

When I run full primaris - it's 2 repulsors every time. I ether put 5 agressors or 10 hell blasters in them just to protect them from being shot up turn 1. It's the only way to get las cannons in a full primaris force. I play them as Ultramarines with Guilliman and they do a lot of damage if I go first.

Would you say going full las on both is good or should I go one based on anti tank and one on anti infantry?

Full Las is best IMO - as it is your only real source of anti tank other than hellblasters. Then I give them 3 heavy stubbers and 4 frag launchers (storm bolters is fine too). Realistically with 3 stubbers and 4 frag launchers you already have pretty good anti infantry.

Are the Gatling cannons not any good then?

Gatlings are great - i play 2 lastalons & gatlings quite a lot. It depends on the rest of your list. You really want to be able to swap those guns when you fancy, tbh.

I would say one of each, simply because that gives you a lot more flexibility in terms of list building and possible additions in the future.

Also if you build a Redemptor the main gun can be dry-fitted, so no need to magnetise it for added flexibility in load-outs.

The Repulsor is also fairly easy to magnetise the main guns, so you can switch around depending on what you need.
The launchers on the turrent can be kept closed so they can easily count for either, and it also makes the model have less flimsy bits that can break off. The stormbolter/fraglaunchers can fairly easily be magnetised too, with just one 2mmx1mm magnet.
Only thing I didn't magetise on mine was the extra stubber, which you probably should, or at least just make it with a pin, so you can take it off if you don't want it and be fully WYSIWYG.

Id say it depends on your meta.

you could get away with one repulsive if there arent too many super heavies or tanks. with the hellblasters picking up some slack.

but if its a parking lot you may need two.

I am probably gonna face a decent amount of IG, DG and some eldar so hard hitting weapons are very useful.

It's not that the Gatling is bad (though it is quite overpriced) It's just that the rest of your list is going to be good at killing infantry.

A repulsor is the only place you can get lascannons. Sometimes I've run 1 gatling and 1 lastalon but the hull twin las is auto include IMO.

Also consider, the Redemptor dreadnought will benefit from your Chapter trait, and the tank won't ---- something to consider depending on how you play.

The main thing that pulls me away from the redemptor is the minus 1s to moving plus it's lack of reliable AT. I think the model is amazing however both rules wise and model wise I love the repulsor.

I think 2 Repulsors as they bring more of what Primaris lack than a Redemptor does. I also agree that full Las is probably the best build. Even with lascannons, the Repulsor is still bristling with anti-infanrtry firepower in the form of stormbolters, auto launchers, stubbers and regular gatling cannon.

Also, something to keep in mind - it's extremely likely that in the future (maybe 3 months, maybe 18) you'll see some more options or versions of both of these vehicles. Now, not knowing what they'll be - they're both guaranteed to get more options eventually, so keep in mind when modeling/assembling/building regardless of what you get.

That's always the risk. But I think I will go with two repulsors since with house rules we have made them usable by other space marines
