Looking at adding this guy to my army, but because I hate Resin, I'd like to ask for substitutes. So far, one of the better ones I've seen is the Dark Elf Lord on Black Dragon, my only concern is when I remove the Lord, is there a hole left? Any suggestions are also welcome.

There isn’t a hole in its back. My wife has one and has yet to put the rider/saddle on. You can completely leave the rider and saddle off without any issue.

Great! That will probably be my go to, as I like it's model more than the official FW.
