Possessed Khorne Marine Covered in Spikes

Hello,

I'm considering the different colors I could use for my greater and lesser demons of Khorne. Really, I'm just considering their equipment because it's pretty clear that they have red skin (also plan to paint the hair black). They have armor and weapons, though.

For both the Bloodthirster and the Bloodletter weapons, I have probably three ways to go:

- Iron blades (probably some silver with a black wash)
- Brass blades (a gold color with seraphim sepia wash)
- Fire blades (black, white, yellow, and orange)

For the armor:

- Dark Iron (silver w/ black wash)
- Brass armor (gold with sepia wash)
- Black armor (black, possibly with a subtle silver drybrush)

I've been trying to look into the older source material to see what color the Bloodthirster's armor was/is supposed to be. I know they paint them in various schemes, I've even seen in how in the demon's book theyve given the bloodletters different color scheme, like Space Marine Legions, but I think that's silly. As unchaotic as it sounds, I imagine that the demons of khorne have a uniform color scheme.

The thing I dislike about the fiery looking Hellblades is that a fire sword doesn't seem very capable of bloodletting. In my book it says that the hellblades are a part of the demon itself, made of the stuff of chaos, that it is composed of the souls of those who have been slain in the name of khorne, and that they are capable of sucking the souls out of those who are struck by them. It says that they glow from this power, so I do kinda want them to be more than just metal blades.

What kinds of ideas do you guys have? What do you think would look cool? And, just as importantly, what are they suppose to look like?

I have struggled with this idea. The descriptions are often quite vague and contradictory. I get what you mean about bloodletters being a uniform colour, but I also think that the warp is a sea of roiling madness and it's a surprise that any two daemons look even remotely alike.

I did paint fire blades for my first squad of plastic bloodletters, but I don't really like them. I prefer the steel blades of my earlier metal bloodletters. I might repaint them in a dark steel/iron colour (intended to match my Axes of Khorne), perhaps with a glow on the tip.

My approach to the fluff when it comes to colour schemes is to read what the book says, and then mould it to what I want to do, so it's not unfluffy, but not strictly adhering either. I think that is often the intention with which these books are written, and the reason the descriptions are not always precise.
