Hey gang!

I'll be playing my first large games of 40k at my first tournament this July at my LGS. I'm looking for advice about my lists, and help deciding which is the stronger pick for an unknown meta. The format is Battleforged, 1500pts, 3 detachment, using the updated FAQ.

First is Mechanicus- Metallica. The core of the list is the old Cohort Cybernetica from 7th. It's a group of 4x, all-Phosphor Kastellans with 2x Datasmiths and a Tech Priest. The Two groups of 10 man Skitarii Vanguard will screen the big robots from charges and deep strikes. I dont own the D Kataphrons yet, but they're just supposed to be slow moving dakka bots. The Dragoon and Enginseers will support and protect my Troops slots while the Rangers park in the back, hopefully on a backline objective.

Next is Dark Eldar. The Hellions and Reavers are all going to be positioned for a 1st turn charge if possible. May want to combine the units differently. The Wyches, Succubus, naked Archon, and naked Kabalites are all stuck footslogging and dipping in and out of cover, however they Coven units are Red Grief so they're mobile enough to make up for lack of Venom. The Blaster Archon and Razorwing Flocks will both be held in Webway reserve and then pop up after Turn 2. The Kabalites will ride in the Raiders and shoot until they can get dumped on an objective. Planning on using the stratagem that let's me use 3 warlord traits.

Hi,
I am not experienced Admech player, but few notes to your list:
Mars detach - get a TPD for rerolls of 1 insterad of TPE - remove one datasmith
I´d merge dakkabots into one squad and move destroyers to Mars, so you would be able to use +1 to hit stratagem
I´d move dragoon to infantry detachment - boosting Ld
move snipers to mars detach - so they can use reroll 1 wrom your TPD
If you are running mars, why not use 10x infiltrators with flachettes? with Wrath of Mars its about 7 morlat wounds in turn they deinfiltrate

I won´t recomend using Mettalica in your infantry detachment, think about using Graia, maybe Stygies VIII as the ability to advance is not that needed for you, if you only want do bublewrap dakkabots and 6++ + deny the witch stratagem or -1 to hit could be much better for you
Definitly split vanguards into 5 man squads (morale)

I can't speak for the admech, but for the de i have some thoughts.

First, drop all the excessive upgrades on the raider. Take either a dark lance or dissie, and that's really it. Splinter racks are ok but you could probably spend the points better elsewhere.

Second is the warriors. Dark lance and shredder have completely different ranges and targets. Give each squad either 2 shredders or 2 blasters, and i would recommend against the heavy weapons.

Third, as you stated, the reavers are going for 1st turn charges, why pay points for shooting weapons? I'd drop their heat lances and blasters.

Overall, with those drops, I'd try and squeeze in a third raider for the 5 wyches and your hqs. Probably keep blasters on your mounted warriors, as you're a bit light on AT. Maybe combine the hellions and give them the strength drug so they're rocking strength 5. Could combine the reavers too and give them toughness 5 and have 2 good targets for eviscerating flyby, or split them into 3x3 to hit multiple units wherever you need them.

I think these changes would make your list considerably stronger while still maintaining the overall feel and structure that you have. Good luck in your tournament!
