Specifically looking at the gorebeast Chariots for slaves to Darkness, but suppose this could be applied to anyone. Is there a reason to take a unit of two or three? Seems like you lose the extra attack on the mounted guy

If the chariots can heal then yes absolutely. If you only take one, then when its dead iits dead.

If you take more, than when one dies you can heal the unit and the chariot can pop back up.

Tomb Kings chariots were notorious for this.

Additionally spells that target a unit can target all of the models in the unit, and if you only have one chariot, your magic is less effective. If thats your thing. If not buffing or anything, just take one.

I'm still rather new to slaves, but the lord on demonic mount's command ability can give a chariot or knight unit +1 to hit. If you have a unit of chariots, more bang for your buck

Makes sense. I was toying with the idea of running a Bloodstoker behind a unit of 3 Gorebeast Chariots, that way he gives them a 3" bonus to their charge making their ability go off on a 5" Charge instead of an 8". That and the Sorceror Lord saves would stack up on them. Might be a bit overkill but it'd be fun.

That's the exact reason to take more than one in a unit. If you have a lot of single-unit buffs (like Khorne Mortals), you end up with a Gorebeast Deathstar. The Gorebeast's damage comes from the extra attacks on the charge, not the rider's weapons. Those are basically just a bonus.

And that's what I'm thinking. That, plus rerolls for wound from other buffs just seem too awesome to pass up.
