Hi all,

I double checked, but did not come across a similar thread specific to this Czech company "Model Scene".

I think it could be of specific relevance to most hobbyists, and create a nice efficiency for many. Especially regarding basing!

I'm a main AoS or 40K player myself and love creating unique bases to differentiate my army.

In this instance I'm actually working on an American Civil War project and wanted a nice easy way to base up 45x40mm stands that will already have 6 28mm models on them fully painted.

My solution was to use these mats, but descale them: http://www.greatescapegames.co.uk/basing-materials/modelscenemats.html

Heres a qucik snap of one of their forest mats:

They could just as easily be cut out into 32mm/25mm or whatever you need rounds and hey presto basing done! Whilst probably more relevant to AoS than 40K, I think they save in buying multiple different tuft packs, and can make basing look great very quickly.

Even if you go with a basic mat, you can always add your own tufts to *spruce them up!

Here's a really great quick Youtube review of a selection of the mats as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECxzddAXBxg

Will hopefully show pictures once my order comes through, but has anyone come across these yet, or indeed used them?

Not only that but they have tress, bushes, tufts, and a further assortment of items!

Thanks,

Those are intense! Do you have any pics with a model next to the mat, I'm having trouble seeing the scale of the terrain features?

Woodland scenic makes similar things as do some other train companies. I even have one sitting around here somewhere. They're really just too small/expensive for a board for my taste but would be fine for basing. The good ones, like in the video, run $30-$40 for US based ones so the Model scenic ones are cheaper (assuming the sizes are similar).

Got any pictures how they look directly out of package? This could be really interesting for those who multibase in Kings of War.

@RiTides Afraid no pictures with a model next to/based yet. My order was dispatched yesterday so may not be until next week!

@Monkeysloth This is how I initially came across them, as I was looking for "Teddy Bear" mats that come pre-made. Simply because they look awesome, but I was worried about wobbly models, especially for AoS, with individual bases. As it happens though, Model Scene have a nice "Agro" line which could be used as smaller but selective areas of a table.

@dyndraig Afraid not yet. However the Youtube review gives you a pretty good idea!
