Hello everyone.

I just recently started with the hobby, and I am about to build my first list.
Thanks to some nice work collegues I already have a ~2000p collection of CSM units.
Next week I will have my first game against 1000p Craftworld Eldar.

This is my 881 points list so far:

++ Battalion Detachment +5CP (Chaos - Chaos Space Marines) [59 PL, 881pts] ++

+ No Force Org Slot +

Legion: Alpha Legion

Dark Apostle [5 PL, 76pts]: Bolt pistol, Mark of Slaanesh, Power maul

Sorcerer in Terminator Armour [8 PL, 130pts]: Combi-bolter, Delightful Agonies, Force stave, I am Alpharius, Mark of Slaanesh, Prescience, Warlord

+ Troops +

Chaos Cultists [12 PL, 160pts]: 39x Chaos Cultist w/ Autogun, Mark of Slaanesh

Chaos Cultists [12 PL, 160pts]: 39x Chaos Cultist w/ Autogun, Mark of Slaanesh

Chaos Cultists [12 PL, 160pts]: 39x Chaos Cultist w/ Autogun, Mark of Slaanesh
. Cultist Champion: Autogun

+ Heavy Support +

Obliterators [10 PL, 195pts]: No Chaos Mark, 3x Obliterator

++ Total: [59 PL, 881pts] ++

Now I would like to know from some more expierenced players what i should spend my last 119 points on.

A small unit of Noise Marines?
More Cultists?
A Helbrute? (melee/range)
Chosen?
A Lord?

I got so many miniatures here, that I am unsure what to use...

I am looking forward to your replies

"Tide of traitors" rule is patched and only one-use per game now.

So you don't need that many screen cultists. 40+10+10+10 is enough(if not more than enough). Save the points for some units that hit hard(e.g. Daemon Princes).

put some zerkers in bud for some of those cultists, then infiltrate them, move, charge, and murder everything in front of you.

My initial idea was to drown my opponent in wounds. I thought that 120+ wounds are a lot to face when only having 1000 points to spend. I hoped to just camp the objectives and kill some units with VOTLW and Cacophony.

Infiltrating berzerkers sound REALLY mean, too bad that I dont have any. No demon prince here either... :(

I only have more cultists, chosen, havocs, noise marines, helbrutes, exalted camp, a lord and a sorcer on bike to fill the battalion.

I run Alpha Legion with cultists and (sometimes) Obliterators as well.

I agree with going for a bit less Cultists.
Also, the Dark Apostle might not be your best bet, as it will mostly aid in Close Combat, and you don't have close combat troops.

Suggestions:
I'd say go for a (Slaanesh?) Daemon Prince with wings and dual talons (-> psyker and close combat monster), or lacking that (&cheaper) a Lord with a Jump Pack. That'd make for some handy countercharging.
Also, the Lord will enable closeby troops to reroll 1's to hit. Which is great news for your Obliterators.
Give your lord the Hydra Blade for extra hitting power, or the Dark Mace if you want to kill skimmers. A lord with Jumppack and a Hydra Blade (launched by a Sorcerer with WarpTime) can be a great deterrant against Eldar close combat troops.

Give your Obliterators the Mark of Slaanesh if possible, so you can use the fire twice strategem on them. That's a winning move on those (expensive) gunmen.
Combine with veterans of the long war for extra pain (will work for both firings).

As an addition I can really recommend Noise Marines. They can fire Assault 3, 24" and ignore coversaves. Which is great against Eldar. Especially against those annoying Eldar Scouts.
Take the MasterBlaster, as it is a great weapon (cheaper and much better than a Missile Launcher). If possible try to include 2 units of Noise Marines.
Don't forget to fire back with your Noise Marines if they get killed (and shoot something that hasn't fired yet) ; that will demoralize your opponent and perhaps leave them alone.
With Alpha Legion your troops are extra survivable as long as you keep your distance.

Thats lot of Cultist

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Thats lot of Cultist. i love it!
Maybe you take that exaltet champion and make one squat to a meele squad.
you could infiltrate one shooti and one meele squad the apostel and the champion that would be pretty punchy...reroll everything with 30 cultist in meele is devastatig.
Dont forget to take some combimelters on the chars.
You have 8 CP that would be 4 for the infiltration and another 4 CP for fury if khorne and votlw. Just saying you could use the reroll everything bubble and stop them from shooting you

Based on your list ...

- Give your Obliterators a Mark of Slaneesh so that you can use the "shoot twice" stratagem
- I would actually stick to having as many cultists as you do currently, especially with the "Forward Operatives" stratagem ... infiltrating a squad of 40 cultists right into your opponent's face seems kinda hilarious
- Spend your remaining points on a Chaos Lord in either Terminator Armour or a Jump Pack so that you can deep strike him with your Obliterators, automatically giving them the re-roll 1's

Sorry I ovbiously had the mark of slanesh in mind for my Oblits.

I think I settled now on a list.

The termi sorcerer gets replaced with a termi lord that strikes with the Oblits, while I add a sorceror on bike. This way my biker can buff a cultist blob t1 with prescience and agnonies and maybe support the Oblits when they strike.
A jumppack would have been better, but I dont have one...

Thank you guys for your input

Lets see how that list plays
