Then comes along the frakking Spinosaurus who kills the T-rex, and the movie says "LOVE THIS NOW! HE IS BETTER" But...in your heart, you love the T-rex, who shouldn't have lost to no stupid Spinosaurus. So you hate the movie. And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.

I wanted to buy nintendo before the wii and GW before 8th, but I would have had to trade on margin.
Kicking myself now...

Yep. I could have used some of that sweet, sweet 300% gain.

GW has proven that you can make poor decisions and still be successful so long as you make pretty models and operate a couple Facebook pages. It's strange that discovering marketing is a thing that can be done has been enough to "turn GW around" such as it is.
The rules still leave much to be desired, prices are absurd and then there's nonsense like breaking Necromunda up to charge people more for the full game. But I guess it's like Hollywood remakes- people complain, then go see the movies anyway.
The bonus is "nice", but If GW was more forward-thinking they'd just raise their employees' pay- and especially be willing to pay enough to hire highly skilled designers and sculptors.

Took the words out of my mouth. GW practise a basic social media presence and suddenly they're a 'completely different company'. It's smoke and mirrors, nothing more. "B-but they listen to us now!" kind of falls flat when their listening amounts to FAQ rulings that are equally as poor as they were in 6th/7th, although this time you get the pleasure of paying £25 every twelve months instead of thirty six for them. Because they care. Apparently.

Well looks like this is going to be another GW bashing thread by a bunch of disenfranchised posters. Instead of people recognizing that this company is doing impressive and hard work to bring its fans an amazing product.

I think it shows that GW for years was sitting on a plastic gold mine but had leadership with such terrible business practices and marketing strategies (aka non existent) that they practically squandered it all away. It wasn't until they put a non moron in change and began to act like a company that actually wants to be profitable (instead of constant stagnation and blaming it on currency exchanges or whatever else Kirby liked to rambled on about).
