Bought some primaris marines as wanted to do a scythes of the emperor army, absolutely love the colours and fluff is also really cool. I like the fact that they could be customised with characters using scythes as weapons etc, however their lack of shoulder pads and other bits is a shame.

On the other hand are crimson fists who I collected about 12 years back and whom I absolutely love the fluff and look of, my very first white s dwarf was when orks were released for 3rd edition back in the 90s with the charging Ork on the cover. I remember there being huge parts in there about rynns world and it really is great lore.

From a look perspective I love them both but just can't choose! Anyone else have a fists or Scythes army?

Spoiler:

I have Crimson Fists, and I also love the lore, and the fact that since they don't rigidly adhere to the codex, you can mess with the painting a bit more (my apothecary is blue with white robes, and my librarian is the same shade of blue). You can also use any Imperial Fists accessories they sell, which gives you more options for modeling.

But that paint scheme for the Sythes is pretty sweet.

I don't see enough Crimson Fists these days so I'm going to vote for them.

I've painted my Primaris as Crimson Fists. My first box set was 2nd edition and one of the rulebooks had that epic picture of the Fists fighting orks on it so I'd always wanted to paint some of them.

I'm leaning towards the crimson fists a bit now, just re reading rynns world and the stories about the rynns guard give me ideas about someday doing a guard force as the rynns guard and having the whole planetary force.

I'd go crimson fists because then you can use standard marines as well.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Scythe Of The Emperor makes more sense to do so you don't really get hamfisted into playing just Imperial Fists Chapter Tactics.

Even as a Crimson Fists player, I think you are probably better off with Scythes of the Emperor since the Crimson Fists' Chapter Tactic and Warlord Trait both suck intensely. You can at least choose something better with Scythes.

The Warlord trait isn't bad, but it's definitely not the first choice.

Maybe if it was something like 6s generate an extra hit, it would be better. D3 extra attacks just isn't enough. And when compared to something like 5+ refunds Command Points, it is beyond trash.
