Any word from GW if they are still coming out or are we adding another clever meme clock to the wall?

I was really interested in what GW found and the state of the game from such a diverse and large group of respondents. Would probably give me a better idea of the actual state of the game outside of my hyper-competitive local meta.

It would also be nice to hear what GW actually thought of the data they received (sorry we didn't realize GK were such gak, no we are not making any of our kits cheaper...). The excuses that more time is required to go through all the responses seems a bit long in the tooth (what are we, 6 months after their deadline). My guess is the results were stuff GW doesn't want to deal with (crazy overpriced models, bad game balance) or just incomprehensible reeeeeeeeeing.

I'm mostly disappointed because I spent a fair amount of time trying to answer the questions clearly and in depth with the expectation that in return I would get some sort of insight into how other feel outside of this hellscape of fan-bois, white knights and peregrine/martel (I kid, I kid).

Anyone with secret connections know what went down with this?

We got the plastic Sister announcement so technically they have.

I didn't see where GW said they would share the results with us. It's strictly for in house use so GW knows what areas need improvement and what areas are up to standards.

Yeah, I don't think they'll share this kind of stuff honestly... They have nothing to gain by sharing it with us, and it could potentially make them look bad.

I read this:

"Over 100,000 of you from all around the globe completed the survey. We’re currently poring over your answers, and later in January we’ll be able to share with you some of the key topics and maybe even a funny anecdote or two"

to mean that we would get something back from GW. Not anything along the lines of 17,352 people asked us to reduce prices but more along the lines of "many people requested xxx and we are looking into that" or "we hear many players asking for xxx but this is why we chose to go with yyy" to even "to all the Xeno players begging for new sculpts just wait until we reveal our super secret release!!"

I mean it says they were going to share something but I've seen nothing. I just crave a bit more transparency from the "new" GW but it doesn't seem like we're getting that.

They did say they would publish some of the results- just like they said 8th was the Warhammer we asked for, that it was the most play tested ever, and that the core rules would be free.....

The survey wasn't even constructed to get our opinions. The only reason they got any real feedback was because they had a few text boxes in there, none of the questions were geared toward understanding what people think about their games or what we want from them. Questions like "Who is your favorite Chaos God?" don't accomplish that.

Christ, it's never enough. Anyway, we got plastic sisters, which GW has acknowledged for a long time as a joke, and clearly enough of those 100,000 wanted it to make them take sisters seriously. Hell, I might even buy some for an imperial agents army.

They shared that something like 100000 people asked for plastic sisters. We did get something back. They're coming out with a beta dex in the next CA and models in 2019. All as a DIRECT result of the survey.

They did EXACTLY what you suggested here, it just wasn't what YOU wanted them to say.

8th was the warhammer most people asked for, that's an empirical fact at this point, or are you gonna try and argue that more than doubling their sales is somehow a result of going against what people wanted? Whether you like it or not, it's popularity among the general playerbase is undeniable.

The most playtested edition ever was not a high bar, and they easily vaulted it except for the...people...who look at 'most playtested ever' and see 'totally flawless.' That's not what those words mean. The core rules are free, you can download the PDF off the website and use the box rules for the units in 10 minutes. Matched play isn't free, but those aren't part of the 'Core rules'.

Also cherry-picking the least useful question in the survey makes you look silly when pretty much everyone remembers filling out the actual feedback questions (usually with 'too expensive' and 'plastic sisters'.

I too thought they'd share that with us (in fact, I've even forgotten about it!), but I guess it was used as a market research tool and won't be publicized.

But it produced some results. Certainly, some of the big FAQ changes came from the survey, as the future SoB plastic line.

AI & BFG: / BMG: Mr. Freeze, Deathstroke / Battletech: SR, OWA / Fallout Factions: BoS / HGB: Caprice / Malifaux: Arcanists, Guild, Outcasts / MCP: Mutants / SAGA: Ordensstaat / SW Legion: CIS / WWX: Union

Plastic Sisters of Battle, Warhammer Legends (So Made-To-Order old fantasy ranges, like the Dark Eldar from 1 month ago), rules for all Warhammer Fantasy models.

Those are all direct result of the survey, they said it when they announced Plastic Sisters of Batle.

So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I wasn't able to watch the plastic sisters of battle announcement, thanks Galas for bringing that up.

I didn't realize those releases were in response to the survey and good on them for following through.

I still wish they GAVE more INFORMATION but it seems I just missed WHAT response they did GIVE to the survey. (Look, my SHIFT key works TOO!!!) Better than nothing but less than I hoped.

We should have heard more from the survey but they’ve swept it under the rug at this point (probably because they got A LOT of backlash about fantasy and 8th edition) (no proof just speculation)

Yes, the core rules are free- but only after GW redefined what "core rules" meant- a piece of information they also neglected to share with their customers when they first made that statement.

I too was sad we didn’t get to see more of the results. I’m more interested in the numbers than people’s soapbox comments (no judgement, I went on a soapbox about Black Templars losing their Codex, and Plastic Sisters...). Surely it couldn’t be harmful to post a series of infographics saying ‘12% of you are 10-15 years old, 25% are 16-20...’, ‘9% of you have one army, 55% have 2, 20% have 3...’ or ‘75% of you collect Marines, 10% Eldar...’

Blastaar wrote:that it was the most play tested ever,

That is just straight up factually, measurably true. I mean, there is no way at all to deny it.

GW never once committed to saying 8th Ed would be ‘playtested to whatever insane unattainable standard Blastaar happens to feel like today’.

Ok, now you’re just actively looking for something to complain about. .

Expecting a game that doesn't have obvious balance mistakes (which are found by the community within minutes of the book being released) and broken rules that require errata to function is hardly "insane and unattainable". When GW said "most playtested edition ever" it was an obvious implication that 8th edition had been thoroughly playtested and GW was taking it seriously, not just that the 15 minutes they spent on playtesting was more than the zero time they spent on playtesting previous editions. The statement they made may be literally true, but it's pretty underwhelming when a promise is only kept because of such utter failure in the past making even the tiniest improvement a step up.

Ok, now you’re just actively looking for something to complain about.

Or just acknowledging the fact that GW lied. "Core rules" implies that you actually get a complete set of rules, and we didn't. It is impossible to play 40k without buying at least the index books, and to have any chance at a decent game you also need to buy the main rulebook for things like terrain/army construction/etc.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
