I want to make a bunch of ork glyph plates to decorate my scratchbuilt and kitbashed vehicles. Copying GW ones is pretty simple; just press some putty onto one, wait for it to dry and then press putty or molten plastic into the mould.
But I'd like to make some which aren't just copies of theirs, both for the sake of variety and so I'm not violating their copyright. I tried making them by hand, but the results weren't clean enough so I think I need to get them done by machine. So I need a service which can cut extremely precise shapes, about 1mm deep. Ideally the shape would be cut into a hard, heat-resistant material so I could use it as a mould directly but if need be I can cast in putty and use that.
The issue then is cost. It seems that this kind of thing is fairly expensive, but I don't know exactly what my options are and I guess I might be missing one which will do the job for a reasonable price. Can anyone suggest a company (ideally in the UK) which would be able to do it and not charge much (I'm very reluctant to spend a significant amount of money because I'm not at all sure the product will actually perform as well as I hope and it only allows me to make fairly minor bits with some effort, so it's not a huge benefit to me even if it goes perfectly).
