Finished my first test model for my Explorator Fleet Primaris Marine for my all Primaris Deathwatch army. I'm going for a retro-scifi look with the bubble helmets and enamel green, but wanted to keep the basic marine scheme dark so as not to be totally out of line as counts-as Deathwatch. This is also my first time using microsol/set for the decals, and an oil wash! I think it turned out pretty good!

Thanks guys! The starcraft marine was more of a happy accident, but those were one of my first sci-fi loves so it works! Here's my rough thoughts for the force:

-Long range AdMech Exploratory Fleet is gifted with a Deathwatch detachment to aid them in "discovering" new alien worlds.

-After a few long decades in deep space, who's really gunna notice if the Explorator Dominus mindwipes all the marines to make them forget all that useless "Space Monk" baggage.

-Also maybe we make our own Primaris marines? We've got all this diverse geneseed right here, and it's not like we're going to get reinforced way out on the fringes... Besides, no one's watching.

-Where we're going, all you need is SCIENCE!

Well that looks bloody excellent

3x things I particularly like:

The helmet ... could you let us know how you did it? Scratch or a 3P part?
The lack of OSL on the plasma coil ... I think that effect is too ubiquitous and rarely looks good.
The fact that you haven't painted the holster & pouches as if they were brown or tan leather. A lot of people do, and I think it's incongruous with powered armour.

The helmet (and collar) is from Bombshell Minis: http://store.bombshellminis.com/36021-helmet-set-r10/
They're great, and clear acrylic so it could also work with a visible head underneath. I hit mine with gloss spray to go for a more anonymous look.
Forgeworld somtimes paints their plasmacoils as copper wiring, and I've always thought it looked cool and more 'realistic'. Fits the vintage sci-fi look too.

Looks great man! Love the idea.

The only thing I will say (and I say this to like everyone on here) is I prefer the rim of the base to be a contrasting color to the rest of the base. (black in this instance)

I think it would really make the model pop. I think the rim being the same color seems washed out to me.

Other than that great job!

I'll try out a usual black basetrim on the next model. I went for brown because the model itself is so dark, I wanted to seperate it from the base even more.

Marine size are R10, imperial guard size are R8.
Sort of confusing that their site doesnt have comparison scales :/

I just sprayed the outside with gloss black. I did another test one with handpainting the inside with regular black, and the results were nearly identical.

I think it's just basic hardware store Rustoleum indoor/outdoor rattlecan.
