My girlfriend has fallen in love with the new Myrmourn Banshees but had no idea how to get that effect. Anyone got any ideas or tutorials for them yet? Or are they too new?

The blue white transition? Paint it blue, then many coats of white thinned with painting medium would be my guess. The 'Eavy Metal team must have taken forever to do those, so much blending.

^ Sort of.
There's two components to this:
1) Most importantly, be good at smoothly layering and/or blending. Smooth transitions are a practice makes perfect kind of deal and take effort. Slopping some was on something isn't going to look as good as the stock photos (GW's painted output for some new reasons is way more technically accomplished than much of their base, shade, layer, layer stuff, even when they claim otherwise).
2. Get the colours right. The Blue part you'll be wanting to start off with a light turquoise and layer up, incrementally adding white/very light grey 'til you get the desired contrast.
Most of the white parts will be a cold, light grey layered up to pure white.

You could achieve this effect with multiple layers of *very* thin wash. Nope, thinner than that. Keep thinning. Almost there... now add a cup of purified water.
Start with white primer. Wash the entire area. Allow to dry. Repeat this until the highlights and flat areas are correct. Continue washing in the recessed areas. Shrinking the washed area towards the recesses for each coat as you get desired opacity.
This process takes time, literal drying time, but requires little technical skill and is very forgiving. You can then go back to put "hard" edge highlights in pure/close to pure white.
PS: She's got good taste in models.

Or you could do the cheap and dirty way of priming white, paint on a coat of Nihilak Oxide (doesn't even need to be a completely even coat) apply Coelica Greenshade into the recesses, highlight with Ulthuan Grey and edge higlight with White Scar.

Essentially the paler colour scheme for the Banshees is just a lot more white/less Nihilak Oxide.

Might wait to see some tutorials (won't be doing it until next year anyway when we get a place together). Maybe they used the new paints for it aswell.... I feel the layering with washes seems to be most likely... she wants a Nighthaunt army but with a very pale ghostly look, the tutorial gw put out thenother day she said is too dark and strong for her. It's has to look pail, smooth and ghostly.

There's a GW staffer painting the starter set on FB that's been getting very good, quick results with the 2 new technical paints although his way of doing it is odd but seems to work really well.
I'll see if I can find the pics but essentially he undercoats the model with Corax White.
Then applies the new green and blue technical paints (can't remember the names but they were released with the Nighthaunts).
This is where it gets weird - whilst the paint is still "damp", so not fully dry, he then lightly resprays them with Corax White.
It gives a very effective fade which looks quick and easy to do.
However he did say you have to be quick as you don't want the paint to dry.
Edit - I found one of the posts but not the one I wanted but this will give an idea of how easy it is:

Just a reminder, when layering washes, start out thinner than you think you'll need. It's the slow build up of colour density that gives the smooth colour transition.
If you have anything to try it on first, dollar store figures or anything with a wavy cloth type thing (wrinkled cloaks, for example) that way you can make sure the wash is thin enough.

This is something War of Sigmar posted as part of their Nighthaunt Battletome review:

Hmm, interesting. the Nighthaunt easy kits are really cheap so i can always do a bunch of test models
