Im playing a game tonight and id like to know your thoughts. I have a LoS and a renegade knight with fist/sword (no missile pod). The los is 635, the knight is 354. Which would be better as a distraction in a 2k game? The knight lacks any viable shooting, but costs almost half the LoS. On the other hand, my LoS has better buffs and really good shooting. Is the 300 points better spent on other things, or a stronger distraction?

If all you want is distraction, then the knight should be enough, but only if you have something to counterbalance the shootiness of the Lord of Skulls...

Berserkers backed by a CC knight sounds like a scary thing to me...

Throwing Warptime and Prescience onto a LoS T1 is an absolutely terrifying distraction and will utterly wreck anything it touches. Renegade Knights got better but they still can't match a LoS.

Lord of Skulls is far too powerful with that Daemon Engine stratagem --- I think that would make up for the additional cost, particularly if you need more shooting in your army.

On the other hand, if the Knight was better equipped I think it'd be a valid consideration.

I wanted to go for a double avenger, but then I realized I was a world eater army...So a World Eater knight would need to be 100% melee! Making it also about the cost of a land raider helps too.

I'd say LoS, only for the fact that you can Warptime them. Fling that at your opponent and they'll turn all their firepower towards it. Unfortunately you can't fling knights....

Well, you can but it's not advised.

Here is your LoS from 1975, Mr. LOL:

There is a difference between a miniature and a cheap toy. IK belongs to the former and the LoS falls into the latter category.

I personally love the look of the LoS. The Wraithknight is from Neon Genesis and Stompa is a Mr.Potato Head. What's your point here? A LOT of models look silly as hell in the GW range. And this thread isn't for aesthetic, it's for gameplay. My aesthetic is giant axes and skulls. A lord of skulls brings both.

You asked the forum what to take. I advised you to take the IK and not the LoS. It´s really as simple as that.

Have you considered a Kytan as an alternative? Depends how FW friendly your meta is I guess.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Aesthetic was, is and will always be more important than a rule pamphlet which lasts only a couple of years. Just imagine the following scenario: 9th hits the shelves and Mutilators are the new op unit much as conscript cannon fodder is right now. Would you buy Mutilators? Seriously, would you buy these atrocious abominations? No, you burn these sculpting accidents on sight.

Make them kiss and get a Kytan Daemon engine instead

To get a little serious, I think knights are better for plopping into any list. Cheap enough to where you don't feel bad if you don't build around it, and they can do pretty well. LoS point range is iffy for me in 2k, it just takes so much of the army.

LoS is pretty much the most fun I can have in a game with Khorne. It is built for one thing and if you pass your invuln saves with all the heavy firepower it will take.......

Of course the aesthetics of the LoS doesn't really matter in this case since OP already owns the model.

If Kytan is an option I'd go with that. There's a very good chance Imma buy one at Gencon this year...You could proxy the Knight. I've done that before. It works if your opponent is cool with it.
