So I’ve just bought my first airbrush so I can attempt the really cool looking blades on my new custodes. You know, the ones that blend from black, electric blue to white.

However I have no idea what to do with it. Do I need to buy special paints for it or will my citadel paints go in it?

Any other advice for a rookie airbrusher?

I use Citadel paints, with a drop of Halfords-type screenwash to thin it down. Drop paint and screenwash into a pot, and use a dropper to get it into the airbrush. Clean it through regularly.
Get good ventilation for it, as the fumes are pretty grim.

There are many videos on how to paint blades though, so post here with specific problems.

You can use basic citadels but you need to thin it out heavily, as they are not designed to be used whit airbush, thats where their air range comes inn.
Paints for AB must be thin else it wont move thrue the nossle and clog it up. Consistensy should be the same as non fat milk or a tiny bit thicker then clean water.

Many new AB buyers thinks that it is the airbrush the creates the result but it is just a tool like the brush is. It is your experience and practice that makes the result.
So do alot of testing on the sprueframes before you actualy apply the paint to the model.

Helpful hint: go get some airbrush specific paints.

As a new person trying to figure out how to handle an airbrush it’s far easier if you aren’t fighting the paint as well. Once you’ve done a bit of it then you’ll actually understand what properly thinned paints look and act like in the airbrush.
