Do you think we will see any relics added in future updates? Some armies have multiple pages, while others (looking at you blood angels) have 6 total.

This would be an interesting way to make minor updates to an Army without a total overhaul.

It would be a nice nod in the future. I'd like to see Forgeworld introduce some special stratagems/relics/detachment options with their books over time. I know as an Eldar player who does not play a listed Craftworld, I have almost zero good relics, same with Chaos Space Marines (playing Renegades). I don't even take a Chaos one most of the time.

Most get about 6 relics then those unique to the chapter/craftworld/kabal etc. Blood Angels being their own chapter shouldn't get more than roughly 6.

That said, if campaign books will follow the codecies then it's not out of the question that more relics will be included.

If most armies get 6+1, why shouldn't BA's also get 6+1? I don't follow this logic.

Craftworlds have virtually no good relics, same can be said for Tyranids. Meanwhile Drukhari probably have more good relic options than most other codecies combined.

Because about 6 =/= exactly 6, some reading comprehension please. Tyranids have 5 generic relics, Drukhari 6 and Craftworlds 7.

I think we will get new relics in every 2nd wave codex yes. After all the Codexes are out they'll start releasing them all again with all the errata and a smattering of new content. That is my prediction.

Vigo. Spain.

Please no, dont spread the rules even more. Campaing supplements should only bring rules for narrative campaings and the new units, rules you can get freely in their box.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I think the issue here isn't to limit certain armies with "almost 6" relics, but make it uniform number throughout. So in your particular example, they should give 1 more to tyranids and take one away from CWE.

They need to do away with the CP gen relics while they're at it.

All the Chaos Legions and Loyalist Scum Chapters getting their own set of unique artifacts was something 7th did right. Of course not all were good but you can blame the core rules for that (compare the current Spartean to the old version. Basically night and day).

People acting like Space Marine chapters are different than other faction's "chapters"; aka IG Tallarn, IG Vostroyan, etc.

Each SM Chapter (color) should have 6 generics+1 unique to their book.

"But my color marine isn't the same as those other color marines!" - a Marine is a Marine, no matter the paint job. There are slight differences here and there. The only reason you got multiple books for your sub-factions is because GW loves you more.

Imagine if each Eldar/Craftworld, each Tyranid/Hivefleet, each Necron/Dynasty, each Ork/Klan got their own books for each sub-division - it'd be as Space Marines currently are. But instead, they're all lumped into single books, and given a single relic each (unique to the sub-faction).

But yes, additional content in ChapterApproved would be cool; provided there was a real attempt to balance it.

Or, another way of looking at it:

Ulthwe (for example) get access to 7 relics. Dark Angels get access to 6.

Now, I'm not trying to say Dark Angels should get a different relic. I'm saying they aren't really comparable situations. Not everything should be equal, it's fine that they aren't.

They do have some of the worst base HQs, though.

I'd rather have 6 decent, useable relics, than 12 useless ones. A staff that gives you +1 to your smite roll ? Ridiculous. It should add 1 damage to smite. A TH that lets you hit without -1 to hit ? Awesome !

Once all the codexes are out, I fully expect to see army expansion books like the 7e Angels of Death book with more Stratagem, Warlord Traits, Relics, and possibly even alternate Traditions for sub-factions.

Out of interest, how do you guys feel about artefacts basically being free or costing CPs?

I'm just wondering if it was a mistake to not have them cost points.

I actually think rather then costing points they could've costed CP. While I do like the free bit, I do think some are just overwhelming superior and could've costed maybe 1CP to take normally.
