I don't use many, I like their dry brushes and their small base but has anyone noticed that the brush end falls off with a lot of their brushes?

Yeah I stopped using GW brushes a long time ago as they just never seemed to keep a pointed tip for very long. If you want a better brush you can't go wrong with Windsor and Newton series 7. I mainly use sizes 0 and 1 and you can get them from amazon. Im not sure but they're probably no more expensive than GW ones.

I use the windsor for detail and edging work, but they are too expensive so I use the GW basing brushes. I wash them constantly, they keep a point for longer if you do that, but yeah they end up having tonnes of stray hairs.

I still got mine from God knows how long ago.
They're all made by W&N anyway. We've known that for years.

I use the M Layer, XL Base, S Dry and M Shade.
I bought the M Layer when my Starter Brush decided to develop two tips. That Starter Brush is noticeably worse quality than the rest of the range.
The XL Base is a good size for base coating but I ended up buying the Macragge Blue spray for my Ultramarines so I've only actually used it for the few Death Guard that came with First Strike.

Yeah GW brushes are pretty poor quality. Back when I first started painting I'd pick up brushes from GW without checking them first, Half the time I'd be back the next day because they'd fishtail as soon as I wet the brush. Also as other people have mentioned, even with proper care you'll get stray/bent hairs and lose the tip pretty quickly.
They're really not worth the price for the most part, so after reading a lot of reviews I now use windsor newton 7's and have been very happy with them so far.

Plus they are a hit or miss, some even come with split ends before you've used them, some the metal end isn't secured and falls off. Plus its happening more frequently.

Like Rybrook, the last GW brush I bought was red ... Windsor and Newton series 7 are expensive but the cost difference is nothing compared to quality gain. Except for dry brush and very basic work (where hobby first price is enough) I only use W&N 00, 0, 1 and 2 (I use airbrush for basecoat).

I'm not sure if it's happening more frequently since I've stopped buying their brushes but it wouldn't surprise me. But lets be fair, pretty much all GW tools have always been a bit shoddy. I've been able to find cheaper alternatives of higher quality. Or alternatives that are so much better that they're worth paying extra for.
The last purchase I didn't regret tool wise from gw was a small cutting mat I picked up years ago (though for its size it was massively over priced!) Though of course being GW they had cut off the first half mm of the small metal ruler that came with it! XD

You stopped buying them though so how could you know. They last two buys in a row had stray ends and the metal ends come off, its happened in the past but it happens all the time now.

Lol well that's why I said I can't confirm but wouldn't be surprised. As in "I don't buy their brushes anymore but I wouldn't be surprised if they are still $%@#!" I wasn't disagreeing with you I was using my statement as a jumping off point to complain about the general quality of GW's tools. (those I have bought from time to time over the years as they've claimed to improve them... They haven't)

I recently bought their M layer and S Dry, and I have to admit, they're not as bad as people in here are saying. I've looked after mine, and while my M Layer is a little too large for what I'd like it to be, it's a pretty solid brush.
Of course, I've never used a W&N, but given the price, I'm happy with what I have, and that'll do me fine.

I still use the sable hair brushes I bought off GW before they released a new line of brushes. Guess I got lucky as they are still fine. Only thing I use to keep them clean is room temperature water. I'm not adverse to paying more for better quality and fully intend to once my current brushes become unusable. So far they lasted longer then I expected and I'm not arguing with them.

I've had my fair share of bad experience with the GW brushes, tending to split their tips after a short amount of time and not getting back into shape. Though I've been using a set of 'Eavy Metal brushes from GW for a very long time and they lastet me a couple of years. Those were really splendid but only available for a short amount of time as some kind of limited edition!
As I didn't trust those standart GW brushes anymore, I switched to a pair of sable hair brushes from a local hobby store. I really like those, but the one brush I use the most starts to get "thinned down" as he has lost a few hair over the time.
Currently I'm waiting for the delivery of a pair of four new brushes from the "Artis Opus" kickstarter. Can't wait to try those out, as they are said to be great. Don't know when they will get shipped, though.

I treat the GW brushes with a disposable mindset. I use each one until it fails, and then just get a new one. They are cheap enough for that, although I'm sure there are cheaper brushes for this as well. I'm just too lazy to go to another shop for brushes, might as well get them from GeeDubs while I'm buying models or paint anyway. For the same reason I only use GW primer and paints as well.
