Over on the Community page, GW is doing a faction overview each day for the upcoming Kill Team release. The most interesting part, to me, is the announcement of which models will be playable with the 1.0 rules. Here's what they've announced so far:

============================================================================================

Adeptus Mechanicus: Skitarii Rangers, Skitarii Vanguard, Sicarian Ruststalkers, Sicarian Infiltrators

Genestealer Cults: Neophyte Hybrids, Acolyte Hybrids, Hybrid Metamorphs, Aberrants, Genestealers

Adeptus Astartes: Scouts, Tactical Marines, Reivers, Intercessors

Orks: Ork Boyz, Kommando, Burna Boy, Lootas, Gretchin (!)

Astra Miltarum: Guardsman, Special Weapons Gunner, Tempesus Scion, Baneblade

Tyranids: Termagants, Hormagaunts, Warriors, Genestealers, Lictors

Drukhari: Wyches, Kabalites

Deathwatch: Deathwatch Veterans, Intercessors, Reivers

Harlequins: Player (i.e., Harlequin Troupe)

T'au Empire: Fire Warrior, Fire Warrior Breacher, Pathfinder, XV25 Stealth Battlesuit, Drones (7 types)

Necrons: Necron Warriors, Immortals, Deathmarks, Flayed Ones

Heretic Astartes: Chaos Space Marine, Cultist

Asuryani (why not just "Craftworlds"?): Guardian Defenders, Storm Guardians, Rangers, Dire Avengers

Death Guard: Plague Marines, Poxwalkers

Grey Knights: Grey Knight (i.e., Strike Squad)

Thousand Sons: Aspiring Sorcerer, Rubric Marines, Tzaangors

============================================================================================

They've said the factions will each get 1-6 datasheets in the core rules. If that's literally true, one (or more?) of the remaining factions will be tagged with a "1," and someone else will get 6.

Update 7/14: As MalfunctBot called it (see below), Harlequins check in with one datasheet. The term "murder-clown" is now GW cannon, and we are all embiggened thereby.

Update 7/15: The absence of K'root from the T'au l'ist is the biggest s'urprise for me so far. I have to think they'll eventually be included in the game, maybe as their own (sub-)faction.

Update 7/17: T'au seem to have made out really well. Nothing much to say about Necrons and CSM.

Update 7/18: Oof. Pummeled by the prevalence of resin in the line. I genuinely though we might see Striking Scorpions; they fit the fluff as well as any unit in the game.

Update 7/19: The Kill Team website is live now, rendering the remaining handful of reveals on the community site moot.

I'll update the post as I can. There we have it. I'm buying in for sure, but I wish they hadn't gone quite so ... vanilla? ... with the units included at release. Really hope we see "Kill Team: Heavy" before too long.

Tanks for the overview.

I would not be surprised to see Death Guard with only Plague Marines, as these have the widest range of weapons in the entire game. But I hope not, Cultists,Possessed would also be viable candidats for a Team.

Heretic Astartes will get 6 units, since they can have all cult troops (Berzerkers, Rubric Marine, Plague Marines) but also Chosen, Cultists and basic Chaos Space Marines.

I'm curious as to how in the world they could make Necrons work since RP stops working when the model is slain...but I think they're doing a good job of selecting the available datasheets.

Did they say anywhere if Deathwatch Veterans and Intercessors get those full datasheets? Because those units also include Bikes, Aggressors, and things you don’t expect in KT.

You aren't using codex rules and stats for kill team, they'll have their own version of how RP works.

My money's on some flavor of FNP roll, possibly buffed if in proximity to another friendly necron model.

Thousand sons will likely get Rubrics, cultists, and Tzaangors. I plan on using a corrupted Space Wolf, the Wolf of Prospero as my Aspiring Champion.
Death Guard shoukd get Plague Marines, Cultists, and Pox Walkers.

I dont think we will be seeing Chosen as they don't have models. Generic CSM, Cultists. Maybe Possessed since they're Infantry and could actually be real fluffy. I would love to see Raptors or Warp Talons but since everything has been Infantry Only, I doubt we will be seeing them.

I really want to see berzerkers. It would be nice to crack out the CSM for once.

Hopefully TS get more than solely rubrics.

Deathwatch are gonna be cool. Blinging out your dudes without them costing exorbitant amounts will be nice.

Dam I was hoping they would include Terminators in the kill team so you could play some space Hulk like missions. Maybe it won't be to hard to convert point values and give them termi armor as a house rule.

I'm kinda hoping that DG and TS don't get cultists just to further differentiate them from CSM, actually, though given that Deathwatch got Intercessors and Reivers that's probably unlikely.

GW has been pretty consistant in avoiding 2+ armor saves for their small skirmish games.

I don't think there will be separate entry for Berserkers. Duncan was talking about converting a CSM team on Warhammer TV, and he first said Berserkers, but then corrected himself that in the Killteam they would be Chaos Marines with a Mark of Khorne.

You're being disingenuous.

GK will obviously get Strike Squads, Interceptors, and a Giant Middle Finger from GW.

(Oh and the Strikes and Interceptors will be identical, but only the Strikes get gear options while the Interceptors have teleporters and stock weapons).

Out of all the current remaining Kill Teams I'd say Harlies have the biggest chance of getting 1 datasheet. The only ones that'd fit for them are the generic Troupe, since the Deathjester I think would be a little too powerful being a character and all (the Shadowseer and Solitaire are both way over the power curve for Kill Team).

As for the mythical 6 I'd say T'au have the best shot. Firewarrior Strike Teams, Breachers, Pathfinders and Drones are already confirmed, and both Stealth Suits and Kroot fit the criteria of both being plastic and being scout/guerilla troops.

my gut feeling is that this'll be true for a LOT of factions. And it makes some sense. in standard table top, our squads tend to be pretty structured. with a few notable exceptions. with CSMs, if you've got a chain axe and run screaming into melee combat you're a special type of chaos space marine. and if you wanna have a squad with mixed power weapons and bolt guns etc, you've pretty much got to play the Chosen.

a more fluid structure this way makes sense. and really fits the stories a bit better. Consider Blood of Asinheim, that was a grey hunter squad but on table top it'd be horriably illegal. but it woudl proably work nicely in kill team.

I'm hoping they get Pox Walkers. I'm not too interested in collecting an entire DG army, but I liked the Noxious Blightbringer model so I picked up one and some Poxwalkers to go with it. Of course I doubt that a Noxious Blightbringer will be an included unit, but I figure I could count him more as a a Plague Marine Plague Champion or something.

Considering the fact that Poxwalkers were mentioned by name as a Cool Thing You Could Work With in a narrative campaign I'd be very surprised if Death Guard don't get access to them.

I don't think we'll see separate cult troops for heretic Astartes.

I'd predict: CSM, Possessed, cultists

I think that's it. CSMs with access to Chosen and Havok equipment though.

Also, I'm not convinced either TSons or DGuard will get cultists. I think they'll get Tzaangors and Poxwalkers respectively and call that it for cheap troops.

Welp, it is confirmed from a page-thru of the book from a french youtuber that

-Nobody gets six. That was just a lie.

-CSM gets Chaos Marines and Cultists (confirmed today with the GW preview)

-DG get plague marines and Poxwalkers

-Thousand Sons get Rubrics and Tzaangors

-Eldar get Rangers, Guardians, Storm Guardians, Dire Avengers

-Grey Knights get Strike Squads

Personally, I'm most excited for Tau, who I think will be pretty nifty with a good mix of shooting and support elements, Dark Eldar who will be much more fun with the addition of kabalites to round out the wyches that were in SW:A, and Deathwatch.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I better be able to toss on Sonic Blasters and Blast Masters onto my Slaanesh Marked Chaos Marines. I was disapointed I couldn't take Noise Marines in Shadow War, and I'll be upset again if I cannot take them in Kill team :(.

I'm also kind of disappointed that Jump Troops aren't making an appearance. I don't think Raptors or Assault Marines would be particularly broken.

Oh well, I'm sure the factions will get more support as the game expands.

Astra Militarum should cover that. Might need to go to Open Play to do everything, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Perhaps even (gasp!) Chaos. Plenty of rag-tag cultists, with a Chaos Marine representing a Crusader somehow. or Genestealer Cult.
