So, I first saw this kit at AusPax last year. The company behind them, Miniature Scenery, had a stall there, with all sorts of cool vehicles and scenery, made from lasercut wood (they were also Australian, so that's nice).

It is the Y2K Peregrin spaceship, and it is a gorgeous kit. Everything is made from bits of lasercut mdf of varios thickness, and thick card. It's all glued together with pva anda bit of super glue. The instructions have a few little problems (minor things to do with the door, and figuring out how to paint sub assemblies), but overall it's an incredibly fantastic kit. It's really interesting, because everything has to be made from different layers of thin bits of wood, with only a little etching on one side. So, you are building everything layer by layer, whereas in a plastic kit, you'd just be able to have a single cast piece.

I wish I had figured out how to paint it a little lighter beforehand (probably should have used fenrisian grey as a base, instead of The Fang, although I can't imagine trying to undercoat this with a brush, instead of with spray paint). But, overall I'm really happy with it.

The instructions are available on this website that I linked, if you are curious about how it all fits together.

I'm a real big fan of this kit, and I've been trying out a few other different lasercut wood kits as well, including a bunch from Knights of Dice, another Australian company which had a stall at that Pax, including some vehicles, and a building.

If you can't tell, I've been trying to build up some cyberpunk-y/shadowrun-y type models. Which has been fun.

Great to see some of these kits finished. The Peregrine looks amazing - how hard was the build?

Great job on these, you have quite the collection.

Nice work, and really good looking kits. Looks like a beast to assemble, but the end result seems to make it worthwhile. very slick derivative design, I like it.

It's quite a slow build, since everything is in so many pieces, and you need to make sure that everything lines up well.

and there's quite a few times when you've got to think ahead about how easy it'll be to paint certain sections after they get assembled and/or before they are glued in place.

but overall it wasn't too hard

the instructions are mostly pretty clear, except for one annoying bit with the front door that doesn't close properly unless you modify it.

Also there's so many small bits that just have to be glued on.

But it was well worth it in the end.
