Now that FW have gotten rid of their renegade models, I wish I bought a massive amount earlier. But I was just wondering how many people would buy plastic renegades if GW released them, just to see the interest. I'd be the first to go into debt.

Ich would buy some, as I did, to Mix with Cultists. With proper GW rules and plastic models, I could think of a detachment for Chaos Soup.

Lost and the Damned seem like such an obvious army to add, put out a plastic kit with guardsmen and a upgrade sprue. Maybe a few unique units. give them cultists instead of consripts... etc

It'd be a pretty popular army.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I'd prefer to see an actual range coming out, but I'd settle for upgrades if there were many, varied and well designed. Wouldn't be hard for GW to do a range though because they already have half the army, tanks just need upgraded, with upgrade packs, leaves room to do some really cool renegade infantry/ogryn etc. models. They could also do god specific units.

I used Steel Legion minis with a Nurgle paint scheme to represent traitors.

I kinda hope that if they do end up deciding to reboot L&TD instead of just making them Renegade Guard they go for more of a "That Civilian's Got A Knife!" feel to it. Give them a more unique visual and mechanical identity.

The discontinuation of the range by FW seems to suggest that the models did not sell particularly well....

Depends on what they do with the concept. If they repeat FW's mistake of making a limited range of models with few upgrade options (and none of the good ones, like melta/plasma guns or heavy weapons) then they're likely to meet the same fate of poor sales and getting discontinued. If they make a full range that can build a competitive army without having to improvise conversions from other kits they'll probably sell.

I think the problem is less the competitiveness and more the fact there's basically no reason not to just use Cadians. Death Korps was more unique from standard IG than R&H was, and Death Korps has the additional leg up of having interesting models with a cool aesthetic.

If a theoretical Lost and the Damned release is to see any success it needs to be at least as different from Imperial Guard as Genestealer Cult is.

The reason to not use Cadians was for aesthetics. The Cadians and renegade militia have very different aesthetics, the problem was that the renegade militia product line didn't have options to make a decent army. Want to use them with the codex IG rules, like you could use a DKoK kit? Forget it. The model range doesn't have melta/plasma or heavy weapons, so you're stuck buying militia conversion parts to add to the Cadian kits and hoping the stock Cadians (with no chaos elements) don't look too out of place. DKoK at least have all of the options available to make a DKoK or codex IG army. The only way to make a pure militia army without conversions was to accept that you're going to lose every game because all you have is a bunch of basic troops with lasguns.

I'd probably buy in if they came out in plastic. After you bought the FW torsos, assault weapons and a box of guardsmen for their legs then it ended up running you over £40 per squad. If plastics came in at half that it'd be much more appealing.

especially given Guard is a hoard army.

I think that might be part of the big issue BTW, not so much the lack of compeitiveness (that changes from edition to edition after all) but simply the expense involved, although obviously paying a premium price for an army with inferior rules is definatly a downer.

but yeah traitor guard would be nice, the trick is finding out a way to make them distinct from loyalist guard, AND genesteler cults.

I'm not much of a fan of that, makes them feel too much like cultists (which I hate). I love the corrupted, dirtyness of chaos being mixed with the disciplined, regaments of the Imperial Guard; makes the forces of Chaos feel more like an army and less of a rebellion.

Necromunda is the best way to do it now. Every one of the human factions could be tailored very easily to be chaos cultists.
