I got the Kill Team box set. My wife always liked Orks and now I think with me coming back to the hobby, I am finally going to put the Orks together. I have the Start Collecting Ork set, and some orks you we got in the Armageddon box set. Sadly I don't know nothing about Orks.

So with what I have do I have the minis to make an Ork Kill Team? If so what minis should I get my wife to use? Also what size base should I put them on? Should I use the 32mm bases since we would like to use them in 40K games once we have enough minis collected and builty. Since I don't know nothing about Orks, if I don't have any Orks that I can use, what are they?

Last thing can someone give me a few ideas of what an Ork Kill Team that would be fun for the wife. This way I can start making and painting the minis and finally get her Orks she always wanted.

Armageddon

Ork connoisseur at your service.

Only put your nobz on 32mm bases. Boyz are a dime a dozen, and you want a lot of them, and as many of them in base contact with your enemy, so to do this you need small bases. 25mm on Boyz always. No terrain feature should impede your green stampede

You get a lot of models with the start collecting, so its a good start. You could easily make a kommando for kill team if you just use enough ammo pouches, grenades, and other bits. For the next kit I would get either the burna boyz box, or the special kill team one that comes with the burna boyz and some terrain and special cards https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Kill-Team-Krogskulls-Boyz-2018-eng
Note that burna boyz and lootas are built from the same kit, and you can also build a mekboy out of it, so you get a lot of bang for your buck.

I haven't played Kill team yet, but I recommend a Nob for your leader, as you want him to stay alive the longest. And build boyz with all the weapon combinations you can, just so you have variety.

And tell your wife to practice her WAAAAAAGH scream, because that's mandatory. They take away your ork card if you don't.

Thank you very much Don Savik. Just a question though about putting the minis on 25mm bases. Wouldn't some people complain that is modelling for advantage? I can't remember where I read it but I saw some complaints people should be using larger bases.

I just found a box of 3 orks in what looks like a garbage can. I would say they are like Oscar the Grouch gang. Can those be used as well? I don't have the Ork codex so I can't compare them to what they are or what they are called.

I think you overthink it. Nothing is more orkish than using scavenging stuff. And almost everything is boyz. Some have a choppa and a slugga, some gunz, big gunz, very big gunz (lootas), flammers, etc... I've never seen an ork model who could be considerate unplyable.

As for base, there is no modelling for advantage, simply because boyz come with 25mm bases.

Ork Start Collecting is a pretty solid place to start! if you have SWA and SC!orks you have 2 boyz boxes and 1 nobz box. Here's how I'd run them!

Kommando Nob 12 (Leader)
Power Klaw 4
Boss Nob 10 (Demolitions)
Kombi-Scorcha 4 and Big Choppa 2
Ork Boy Gunner 7 (Heavy)
Big Shoota 0
Ork Boy Gunner 7
Rokkit Launcha 3
4 Ork Boyz (choppa, slugga)
4 Ork Boyz (shoota)

That's about as varied as you can get out of Ork Boyz, at 12 models you're not so numerous that morale will kick you in the butt, but you are above 10 models so 3 of your boyz can do stuff in the Scouting phase. If you want to model some of your boyz with sneaky-lookin gear and make them Kommandos, you can do that just for a bit more variety. Sneaky Gitz rule really helps get your choppa boyz into combat.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Thanks guys greatly appreciated. That is why I asked Iron Slug. I didn't know everything is a boyz. I need to learn what Orks are and no idea who is what. Can't wait for the new codex so I can start reading it and get to feel and understand what it is to be an Ork. I had their 4th edition codex but can't find it at the moment to read the fluff.

Will try out that list as a starting point the_scotsman. Greatly appreciated.

New question so I don't make a new thread. Does the Ork Kill Team starter set have anything that is not in the rule book? Does it have rules that are not included in the rule book like new strategems or what not?

*edit*

Just saw the GW store. Yes it does.
