I'm whipping up a list for the laughs and always wanted to try a heavy melee focus Necron army and I wanted to know what does the community thinks.
Any big flaws (aside lack of shooting)?
Any tips on how to play them?
Anything you'd do differently (list-wise)?
If you wanna melee, I really wouldn't do it with flayed ones. They are really pretty bad. I might try to drop them and opt for some c'tan variants instead, which still meets your desire to run melee. If I was going to do melee crons, I'd lean on scarabs, wraiths and c'tan shards. Not sure about the deathmarks either, they seem out of place?
There'd be some synergy in c'tan and canoptek: mostly there wouldn't be a good profile for the standard bolter or las gun to shoot at, and most armor-piercing attacks would be pretty much wasted.
Deathmarks were pretty much fillers / late game surprises, but I have no idea why my mind skipped on the C'tans.
I've put FO because I long to see them on the table, even if they're far from the best for their cost...
I might do a compromise by switching the 10 FO and the DM for the Deceiver.
OR a brand new list with the Deceiver + Nightbringer and find something to bring instead of FO... Like Lychguards.
More Wraith, less scarabs. Drop the flayed ones. A Dlord with voidreaper is pretty scary, wounding anything that isn't a vehicle on 2+, regardless of toughness with AP-4 and D3.
