It's quite different. To be honest this is way more dreadball then bloodbowl. Which may or may not be to your liking. Keep in mind both teams have additional rules for their positionals . Human catcher for example will get a free run when he catches or gets handed a ball.
These rules are on their cards. Or did you mean aesthetically?
edit:
In more Detail whats Dreadball in this:
-Launching the ball in the middle
-no reset after scoring
-limited activations per turn(not enough activations for all players)
-multiple activations of the same player possible
-Bonusplays throu cards which you earn throu "achievments" (Fanchecks in DB)
-said "achievments" come into play in scoring
-Reserves
-Landslide-victory if you get too much ahead
What's this has similar to BB(and not DB):
-squares
-Touchdownzones instead of thowing scorezones
-Diceroll for passing and rangeruler are somewhat similar to BBs
-Blockingdice(sort of) but here every symbol does something different than in BB
BB Key features missing in this from Bloodbowl:
-Blitz (only one player per turn can move AND attack)
-"Push your Luck" (your turn basicly ends as soon as you fail a diceroll)
-Chainpushes and crowdsurfing
I believe this will be a very fun Game and well worth the asked price,, but as it looks, this won t feel anything like a bloodbowlgame. In my Opinion this is a terrible gatewaygame into BB.
So much that you would need to unlearn when "upgrading" to BB. Why the hell did they change the Blockdiceresults, but kept the same symbols?
Ironically this may be a good gateway into Dreadball. The dicemechanics are different there but you will not confuse them with this so you would not need to "unlearn". Plus the whole pacing and learned your strategies will be more in line with this one.
Honestly, look at BB "Sevens" if you want shorter more compact BloodBowl games..
PS: I play both BB and DB (in leagues) for different reasons.
