Im just looking to make a semi-competitive list, I have not decided on spells or relics yet. Opinions for improvement are much appreciated.

im guessing on a typical 1850 tournament.

-Exalted Sorcerer - 121pts
Force stave, Inferno Bolt Pistol

4x Troops

-Rubric Marines - 167pts
Aspiring Sorcerer, 7x Rubrics with Inferno Boltguns ( I know Rubrics are expensive, but I like them, and they can act as a meat shield for Ahriman )

-Tzaangors - 220pts x3- 660pts
Brayhorn, Twistbray, 29x Tzaangors w/ Tzaangor Blades

3x Elites

-Tzaangor Shaman - 90pts x3- 270pts

Aren't most tourney lists 1750 now? Either way...

You're better off dumping Tzaangors for Cultists.
Exalted Sorcerers are Mediocre for point value at best (IMO)

These changes alone should afford you at least 1 Daemon Prince. Thousand Sons Daemons princes are the gold standard of badassery in any 1kSons list, the more the better.
Also Heavy Bolters on Preds are kind of wasted, should change those side turrets to las cannons.

If you're looking for a fluffy list to take and have fun with, I would still consider downgrading that ESorc to just a Sorc, or even scrapping him and a pred with HBolters for a daemons prince w/wings(they're that good)
Tzaangors can still be effective even though they're somewhat expensive for what you get. You also might want to look at fitting Enlightened Tzaangors with Fatecaster Bows to help protect your shaman/ahriman on discs so they can continue to smite your enemies.

Knowing your local meta is also a great help. and can still make Fluffy/competitive lists and work around that.

Unfortunately, lately my local meta has been nothing but Imperial knights, Custodes, and super heavy detachments, or detachments that make it almost impossible to hit with, ( my primary team was Tau ) such as any list that can force a -3 to hit.

I do like the idea of adding a daemon prince and ill look in to it. i was running the 3 preds to take advantage of killshot, but i also agree the Heavy bolters are kind of a points sink.

I prefer to do the Fluff oriented lists because i think theyre more fun, and i was thinking of adding the enlightened to help with some ranged shooting too. ill rework the list and see how it looks.

You might want to consider heavy Las on the press, or a heavy smite meta. 1ksons really lacks a good anti armor option outside of the pred las combo

That is also what I was thinking.

I like running a bunch of Psykers, but theyre just so expensive in points.

I'm a big fan of tzaangors, and still I don't get why having 3 Shamans.. One is great, you can try having two, but the third one does really feel useless.. With those point you can upgrade the sorcerer to a Daemon Prince!

Success is measured in blood; yours or your enemy’s.

why you need a "meat shield for Ahriman (rubrics) when you have 90 tzangoors? exalted should become a Dp Ahriman on disk, not sure about predators, i would play enlightened. with preiscience from Ahriman and shaman +1 to hit they are deadly (auto wound at 4+)

im currently converting my kroot from my tau army, in to tzaangors i have 10 done so far, the only models i actually own at the moment, are Ahriman ( on foot ), 10 Rubrics, and 10 converted tzaangors.

i agree with dropping one or two of the shamans and the exalted sorc, in favor of a DP, and i like the enlightened, but damn are they expensive ($) so if i go that route i may end up converting those too, with more kroot, and probably trying to grab some unwanted hover drones from people.

I want to try to keep the 3 predators ( and try to upgrade them to all Las) because the tactic that benefits them requires you to have 3 preds.

I like to try to build a list and play test before purchasing models, so that i can figure out how i like to play an army, so i dont end up wasting money.

and honestly i like the look of the rubrics. i agree that they are a bit of a waste of points with how expensive they are.

For putting Ahriman on a disk, i currently only have the 30k version of him, but i was thinking of taking one of the hover drones that my ethereals have, and converting that with some green stuff, and bits to make it in to a disk.

Killshot, if you can actually get it off, is one of the best stratagems in the game.
But do autocannons up top. A flat 4 dmg (with Killshot) is better than d6. And 2d3 shots is better than 2.

Math without stratagem (with reroll 1s):
Autocannon vs T7 3+ does 2.35, deviation of 2.48
Lascannon does 3.02, with a deviation of 2.91
Las vs T7 5++ does 2.43, deviation of 2.74
Las vs T7 4++ does 1.81, deviation of 2.49

Math with stratagem (with reroll 1s):
Autocannon vs T7 3+ does 4.14avg, with a deviation of 3.7 (so spread from 0.44 - 7.84)
Lascannon does 4.77avg, with a deviation of 3.03 (so spread from 1.74 - 7.8)
Las vs T7 5++ does 4.01, deviation of 2.92
Las vs T7 4++ does 2.28, deviation of 2.27

Imagine, though, that everything goes right for you. You make the best rolls possible. With a Killshot autocannon, that's 24dmg! With a Killshot twin las, that's 14. Big difference.

would you recommend just the autocannons on top or autocannons and heavy bolters?

play 3 predators to rely on killshot is unreliable, you must start 1st every game or they remove 1 predator and ur stratagem is useless, math hammer is pretty pointless too considering how many malus to hit you face (alaitoc,nurgle demons,alpha legion just to mention some), btw agree autocannon def fit better.
