How many Big Shootas / Skorchas / Rokket Launchas do you get in a box of Ork Boyz?

one big shoota & one rokkit, thats your lot for special weapons

Well, I guess that helps explain why Orks aren't more popular than they are.

no burna, skorcha or anything, its basically ten boyz and a very slightly larger one who can be a nob or just another boy, two special weapons, one power klaw or half decent sized choppa then slugga/choppa or shoota for the boyz

If you want burners you need to buy a box of lootas.

yup, and all the various bodies, arms, legs etc are pretty much interchangeable, and with the fantasy orcs as well

Yea i love that all the arms and other bits are interchangeable. Not to mention it's orks, you can always just steal some flame bits from some other armies.

There are also a couple tankbusta bombs if you want to model up the rokkit launcha boy to be a tankbusta.

They're orks. If you're not scratch-building every piece of war gear past basic pistols, shootas, and choppas (and maybe even those) out of anything you can find then you're doing it wrong.

I kid, one Big Shoota and one Rokkit does sound a little thin. At least until you think about the 30 boy max size of an ork squad, isn't the cap on assault weapons three per squad anyway?

Also, models traditionally don't come with every option/maximum amounts of each option; no matter what army you're looking at.

You can only have one Big Shoota / Rokket Launcha for every ten boys anyway. I used the extra Nob to kitbash a weird boy

Orks “aren’t popular” because one of the kits doesn’t come with a load of options you can’t use? Sure.

I want a Green Tide, 3 units of 30 Boyz, but I also want 3 units of 5 Tankbustas, 3 units of 5 Burna Boyz, and three big units of Kommandoz with Big Shootas.

I could do that with 15 boxes of Boyz IF I got a Big Shoota, a Rokkit Launcha AND a Burna in each box.

...actually, if it's 10 boys and one larger Nob per box and you need 30 boys per squad that means that by the time you have a Green Tide you also have 6 Nobs for a squad/retinue and three boyz for Mek/Doc conversions. That doesn't sound like such a bad deal.

My favorite thing about them. I'm primarily a marine player but nothing is more fun than putting random things together on an ork model and it looking cool.

GW kind of wants you to buy tank bustas, kommando and burna boyz boxes to get those units...

However, since you are looking at 90 boyz + 45 kommandoz + 15 tank bustas, that's 15 boxes of boyz - yielding just enough rokkit launchers to build your tank busta units.

As for burnas, the only way to get legit models of those is the burna box. However, if you add two boxes of boyz to the four boxes of burnas you can build all the lootas in those boxes as well.

Also note that the burna/loota box also has a rokkit, KMB and big shoota inside for the spanna.

you can also get the burna and loota bitz pretty reasonable on ebay if you look around and have extra ork boy bodies. they are all pretty comparable. though honestly for big shootas and most ork equipment I prefer the looted look. ask around the FLGS for cheap larger gun and flamer bits. orks yielding assault cannons, burst cannons, autocannons etc. or if you want to be cheaper take a shooter, add a plastic tube bit (like lillipop stick or plastic teefpick) to extend the barrel and boom big shoota. on the flamer front most space marine players and guard will have hand flamer bits and full imperium flamers just scratch them up a bit and add some rust... boom ork flamer.
