What it says on the tin really. Couldn’t find a thread about the codex in news and rumours so sorry if it’s already out there. But I’m interested. Always wanted to do a space wolf style army but not them and with primaris I’ve heard you should be able to so wondering if anyone has heard anything from new book.

From what I've read so far, no and hopefully it stays that way. GW had ruined enough chapters with their Primaris solve all a chapters flaws gak already. Space wolves don't have successor chapters and hopefully never will.

Oooooh. Primaris Wulfen Guess the sons of sangeious got all the luck in the fresh DNA pool. The reconstituted Wolf Brothers have already been mentioned. I believe the BRB has a couple too, doesn't it?

Disappointingly there apparently is nothing about Space Wolf successors in the codex. When the 8th ed was launched they said they were now a thing, and Wolfspear chapter was mentioned. I really hoped we would have finally learned more about them. Alas, no.

That is a shame. I don’t like running well known chapters, I like to have my own fluff and story, keep it lowkey and not major galaxy shifting characters and such. Love the spacewolf theme and have since 1st edition. The picture of the stealth squad hiding in rocks as an ORK buggy drives underneath them was a real inspiration. Hope they have some at some point. If not I might just make some. Less keen of wolves on wolves firing wolf guns etc that has come out recently.

I don't suppose there's a link or anything to that picture?
I run renegade Wolves. It's a nice way of having Space Wolves without them being in the Chapter.

The Wolfspear is a new Chapter made up of seemingly only Primaris Marines. Mentioned in Dark Imperium.

Took a while to find it. Have the book at home but am on holiday. The banner says “covert” in case you weren’t sure how sneaky they were.

Well, even though they don't detail the successors in the codex, Space Wolf successors are still now a thing, so you can easily make your own without mutilating the lore.

Yay! would’ve liked to see some in the book just for interests sake but I’ll take it that they are a thing. Just wished they had released some more primaris models for them.

Andykp, I've had a space wolf army for the last fifteen years. I painted the chapter badge black background and a white wolf. This allowed me to use them as Space Wolves or as a successor chapter. The models are your army you should do with them as you like. No one should give you grief over it especially once your driving your opponent off the board. I theme my orks in a similar way. That way I can use most of my army as goffs with a lot of red on or evil suns. There are sites like shapeways that you can find wolf symbols or you can create your own.

one reason why the sucessors may not have been mentioned is because they ARE Primaris only. and thus they may be waiting for a primaris codex for it.
Also if Primaris ARE vunerable to the curse of the wulfen, the Primaris sucessors could be doomed already :( I hope not though. I always thought lacking sucessors was a serious space wolf flaw as it reduces customization options.

Oh i know but it was always a big character feature of the chapter that they were the on,y ones, some fluff I’m happy bend to my will other bits are too key to the individual bits imo. I’m very much a stickler for my old school ORK fluff. And my army represents a number of war and but when they do get clan traits, I’m sire they will, I couldn’t ever have evil suns repping goffs or anything like that. It would irk me greatly.
Have just finished a big primaris army so will wait and see what is in the future for primaris before going wolfy. Would want wolf primaris to be a bit more different otherwise it’s just a new paint scheme.

I'm sure eventually they'll diffrentiate, right now Primaris Marines are just a addition to our forces though. That said a space wolf player could diffrentiate even a "all space wolf" primaris chapter by clever use of say.. Ferensian wolves etc.

True. I will wait until they get more Viking looking primaris. Painted a lot of them too. Done a few starter sets too that I sold.

The Space Wolves themselves are vulnerable to the Curse of the Wulfen but they are still around and kicking after 10K years. It remains to be seen how they handle it.
The outcome is basically the same as the Blood Angels. Cawl's tinkering seems to have stabilised them to some extent but has clearly not made their problems disappear. I am kinda glad as Cawl is insufferably arrogant and seeing his works as less perfect than he tries to insist to Guilliman in Dark Imperium makes him more interesting and less Mary Sue.
