Hey all,

After progressing through the five stages of grief, I finally gave the new iteration of Fantasy a try due to no small amount of peer pressure from some old friends. I chose the Daemons of Tzeentch for a number of reasons: ease of painting, the aesthetics, Tzeentch is the only Chaos god I could conceivably willingly (albeit foolishly) enter into a bargain with...and obviously with a mind toward being able to participate in two game systems with one army.

I haven't really looked at 8th edition's rules, but it looks like army construction relies on taking specific battalions for benefits. I don't even know if FOC exists in the game anymore. Anyway, here's what I have--can I build a decent list for pickup games with this? What books would I need?

1 Lord of Change
4 Heralds (2 of which can exchange places with 2 of the 3 Flamer chariots, or just be on discs)
1 Herald on Burning Chariot (can be a standalone disc)
The Changeling

3x10 Horrors with Command elements
42 Blue Horrors
30 Brimstone Horrors
12 Flamers
9 Screamers
2 Dedicated Exalted Flamers
1 Dedicated Flamer on a Chariot
2 Flamers on Burning Chariots (can be dismounted for Heralds)

Thanks!

Yeah you can get a decent list with what you have. Building lists is simply picking what detachments you are going to use which are basically FOCs with multiple variations and pick out units to fill the required slots for the detachment. The most common one is the battalion detachment which requires you to take 2 HQ and 3 troop units at minimum and gives you 5 command points all of which can be found in the main rule book. As for books you will need codex: daemon and I would also get the rule book while you can download a pdf of the core rules it won't tell you about the different detachments or give you any missions to play.
