Howdy y’all
I have a tournament coming up in the next few months and want to have a solid 2,000 point list together for it. Because I am planning in advance, this will help guide what I purchase.
Any tips or suggestions for the list? I am new to the whole Knight detachment so I am really looking for advice on that. I am trying to make it as competitive as possible.
Brigade
Army: Astra Militarum
Organization: Cadian
HQ
1 Company Commander with Kurov’s Aquila, Warlord, Grand Stratagist, bolt gun, chainsword.
2 Company Commander, bolt gun, chainsword
Troop
6x Infantry squad, las Cannon, Sniper Rifle, bolt gun, chainsword
Elite
3x Commissar, bolt gun
Fast attack
3x Scout Sentinel, las Cannon
Heavy support
3x Heavy Weapons team, mortar
Battalion
Army: Blood Angel
HQ
1x Captain, Angle Wings, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Death Visions of Sangunious,
1x Captain, Jump Pack, Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, The Veritas Vitae.
Troops
3x Scout squad, camo cloaks, heavy bolter, bolter.
Super Heavy Detachment
Army: Imperial Knights
1x Knight Gallant, House Raven, Ravager, Ion Bulwark, melta gun, Reaper Chainsword, Thunderstrike Gauntlet.
2x Armigear Warglave, melta gun
General idea is to put forward the immediate threats of the three knights, and a smash captain. Basically gamble they will draw a turn of fire, kill a high value target, and hopefully cripple my opponent first turn.
The Guard are a CP farm, and a firing base of 9 las cannons and source of bodies for capturing objectives. Scouts are basically just to capture objectives, fill the requirements, and be a pain to dislodge.

I've fought in this endless hateful war for eight months now, night and day. In that time I've aged a decade. My hair has turned grey, nearly all my squad have died, and I doubt I'll ever smile again. I've fought next to heroes and strangled men in their sleep. But I'm still alive and by the Emperor I plan to stay that way. - Acting-Captain Haines,47th Armageddon Steel Legion |

Picking the best of several worlds is the way to go for Imperial forces atm.
Lots of infantry gives you good board control.
But an enemy with several anti-heavy tank weapons will have no problems taking down your IK in one or two rounds of shooting.

List looks pretty good. Couple of suggestions to make more efficient you could swap the BA librarian for another smash captain. Your lib is ~120 points and can only buff the captain with an additional attack. Better to spend 9 more points and just get another one. You can't give him another angels wing relic, but could spend another 2 CP to get the veritas vitae for a dual regain CP on 5+ pairing nicely with grand strategist (potential to spend 2 CP but get 3 back!) while the 2nd captain is alive but you'll be spending most of your CP in the first 2 turns anyway.
Also, consider dropping the lascannons from the infantry squads. Their mission is board control and objectives so they'll be moving. That means best case you're hitting on 5's, rerolling 1's with orders (39% chance to hit), then wounding vehicles on 3's (66%), meaning your chance to wound is only 25%. If you're not rerolling 1's to hit, then your chance to wound is 22%, meaning only 1, max 2 of your lascannons are wounding per turn. Save the points and look for a more efficient delivery for your AT.

The only things I would say is that maybe make the warglaives into helverins. Also I see close to no reason to make the smash captain a chapter master becuase he can still only re roll ones to hit, and it’s 3 command points wasted to use it for the scouts. He’ll die to fast and he already uses a ton of cp no need to add 3 to that pile. Also I would just pay to make the gallant a character and use the actual warlord to be a company commander with grand strat/Kurov Aquila

Fantastic points! I will certainly drop the librarian for the extra captain. I really only chose the librarian for psychic support, but two captains, coming in a wave is rough. Should I spend the CP to make him a chapter master? I am certainly going to take the CP generating relic for blood angles.
What do you think about warlords? It just occurred to me that I don’t have to make the Knight a “warlord” to get the trait. Further, I am revaluations which relic and warlord trait to give the Knight, as the reaper chainsword relic, and ion bulwark sound very good.
Should I shift it to the company commander and give them the CP warlord trait? I am pretty committed to the relic, and I would still have two CP factories.
What anti tank would you suggest for 120 points besides las cannons?

Great points.
You are right about the chapter master upgrade, especially if I wanted to spend the CP to get two extra relics. I will drop that.
I just noticed the warlord thing with the knights.

One benefit librarian would be quickening. Fairly reliable charge even from deep strike. Combine with wings of sanquinus and JP that's sick threat range. 12"+12"+(2d6"+3" rerolled if you get both spells off).
Albeit less WS which sucks and less attacks unless you get quickening at which point it's same or up to 2 attacks more.

This is one of the most successful armies atm.
Have a look into Tony Kopach's list:

That is what I was thinking. He is useful. I am deciding between him and a second smash captain

You could just take more heavy weapons teams if you wanted to keep the LC - just stick them in your back field alongside the mortar teams - will effectively block all deepstrike threats. Then cadian + an order will give you full rerolls so you're looking at 75% chance to hit, 66% to wound making 50% overall. Assuming all saves fail that's 10-11 wounds per turn on average so able to kill a regular tank / turn.
Def give warlord to Company Commander - CP farm is too powerful esp. as you'll be starting with 20 CP - basically you won't run out until turn 3-4+ even spending heavily.

Seconded - on the helverins and this will give you more AT too. They put out 8 shots on average (4D3) so 2 gives you 16. 66% chance to hit, 50% chance to wound a T7 vehicle, then 50% save assuming a 3+ regular save (-1 AP) so should wound with 5.28 shots and they fail 2.64 so an average of 7.92 wounds / turn. Also have 72" range making them versatile. All that is before any buffing stratagems too.

Ok, you really sold me on the warlord, and I also dropped the relic. I may start with 20CP but 5 appeared already spent by turn 1. The knights and the smash brothers will eat up another 5 or so first turn. I need that CP farm.
On the helverins, since the relative point difference for one vs a Armiger is 10, would you suggest dropping one las Cannon to have two?
