It would be interesting to see the breakdown here on Dakka.

If you take part in everything please tick the last box as well as the others.

Back in my RT days I didn't paint or read Black Library novels, now I'm totally immersed

What do you count as fiction?

I don't really read the novels, but I spend lot of time on wikis!

Yes I meant reading Black Library novels.

For everything else use GW's definitions: https://investor.games-workshop.com/the-games-workshop-hobby/

Yup, that’s all of them for me.

“Collecting” might be a little fuzzy. If that’s buying minis you don’t intend to use to game, I only do that rarely. Or all the time, depending on how cynical I’m feeling.

I guess if you buy miniatures you collect. I suppose you could paint for other people or game with other people's miniatures (playing someone else's Dark Imperium for example) without collecting.

Haven't played in a year, considering giving that part up but haven't decided yet. Do I tick or no?

I've also read a lot of BL stuff but I try to avoid it, mostly because it's execrable. I do write my own terrible fluff, however, so I said I partook.

What is the difference between collecting and gaming?

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

How would you collect the models without playing, you wouldn't know what to buy without having a codex. I guess you could copy a list online, but those often are tailored for a single event, or some odd format like ITC, and don't work well in normal games. Or it could have FW units taken in the list, and you wouldn't even know it has it in.

Apparently some people collect the miniatures to build, paint and display but don't play WH40K at all.

Nowadays I don't do much of a modelling, as I used to. I'm still collecting, painting and gaming as much as I can. I also voted fiction, because I read the stories from rulebook.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Given that this is a poll on an online forum for talking about the hobby I think we can assume 100% of respondents do that!
