Played my first game and here is a few questions that came up for us.

What does everyone use for wound markers?? With that when a model has multiple wounds how
to you tell the difference between wounds lost and flesh wounds?? We just kept track till zero then
reset with flesh wounds.

Is there any way to get into combat without rolling dice.. I seen models that where closer than their
actual standard movement fail the roll way to many times, just wondered if I was missing something
in the book that was engaging in combat but not charging.

Oops.. sorry .. Kill Team..

I use a d10 to track wounds remaining, and tiny d6 to track number of flesh wounds. I've found descending with wounds remaining makes it clear how much damage someone needs to bring to bear, and flesh wounds ascending means you immediately know what the to-hit and injury modifiers are.

To get into melee, you have to charge. Charging is 2d6. Before you roll, the target(s) can react: overwatch and/or retreat 3". If they retreat, your roll has to make it all the way to their new position for the charge to be successful. So yeah, getting into melee can be tricky!

If you have them use the markers from the Kill Team box, they're invaluable to track everything that happens in the game: models that are Ready, that have charged, fell back etc... I use the little squares from the markers to track flesh wounds for each model, and the actual Wounds remaining I use a simple white die.

I use d4's to track wounds. If I have multi-wound models (Tyranid Warriors, Primaris, etc) I use a white d4 to mark wounds and a red d4 to mark flesh wounds.

They're super useful, are different from the tokens in the box, and are very easy to read.

I also think there are boxes on the cards you fill out for each model.

Yes, technically you should mark your flesh wounds on the unit's datacard, but having a visual representation close to the model also helps!
