sooo... I will be going to my first competitive tournament ever, and I was thinking of bringing this list:

>Battalion detatchment<
HQ
Abbadon, warlord
Demon prince with wings, malefic talons, eye of the night, warpfire bolter, warptime, mark of tzeentch for swapping out psychic powers

Troop
cultsits w autoguns x 40, slaanesh
cultists w autoguns x 40, slaanesh
cultsists w autoguns x 10, slaanesh

>Spearhead detatchment<
HQ
Demon prince, hell forged sword, warpfire bolter, prescience or death hex, tzeentch

Heavy support

obliterators, slaanesh
obliterators, slaanesh
Havocs x 7, 2 x lascannons, 2 x missile launchers, slaanesh

>auxilory super heavy detatchment<

Renegade knight, 2 x avenger gatling cannons

Not being the experienced competitor, is there anything that i should definitely change?
Also, should i go with prescience or death hex on the 2nd demon prince?

I think the oblits and havocs are kinda wasted honestly. I would drop them for a pair of helverins added to your knight to make it a lance.

thanks for your reply
Looked up the helverins and I do like the double 2D3, str 7, -1 AP, 3 damage guns with long range.
The issue that i have with the idea is that I won't be able to use endless cacophony for shooting twice with them:(
the obliterators are random in nature and more squishy than the helverins, but I like that they can't be removed turn one, so
I atleast get a round of shooting with them + they have 12 shots a squad for certain, can benefit from abbaddon+prescience,
potentially have more strength and AP but usually less damage a pop than a helvering.

I could however remove a pack of obliterators + the havocs and put in the helverins while retaining a squad of oblitz.

Honestly I think there is an issue you are not considering:
1 say you face an opp than can shoot decently well: you will need to put the Oblys in Reserve. That means your opponent has 2 targets: Havocs and Knight. Say he starts and kicks the crap out of both.
2 your first turn you don't arrive with the Oblys, cos you wouldn't have a target within 24". So you walk on, and in his turn he shoots the crap out of some cultists as well.
3 Third turn, the Oblys arrive and you have like 900 points to hurt his army, or you're dead.

My point is: I would prefer to have 3 units of Oblys or none at all. Also, 3 or more tanks/knights/ecc, or none at all. Less than that means fighting piecemeal, either way!

Success is measured in blood; yours or your enemy’s.

A very nice point Dampyr! And you're certainly right!
I'm looking into getting some helverins instead of the obliterators

I'd consider making oblits and your third heavy choice alpha legion. With that many cultists most armies are unlikely to get close quickly.
That'd also make your havoks tougher to shift although I think they're still too squishy for the points.
I use a leviathan dreadnought as it is tough enough to take a fair bit of punishment but you could possibly use extra oblits or even a land raider if you don't want to use forgeworld. Also you could drop the wings on the fist DP if he's moving up woth the cultists he won't need the extra movement.

I agree with the leviathan dread, small_gods But unfortunately the tournament does not allow FW.
Also, the havocs are a bit squishy as you say and the 230 pts/squad is a bit too much to get shooten away.
I think I will get my 3 armor choices and then a single obliterator team to have the advantage of showing up everywhere turn 2.
As it stands, I think the new list will be:

Battalion:
Abaddon
DP with wings
DP

2 x 40 cultists
1 x 10 cultists

1 x obliteraotrs

Knight lance:

Renegade knight 2 x avenger gatling cannons

2 x helverins

Thank you all for your feedback fellas, and as you can see, the list has changed quite a bit
