Subject: Can Drop Pods still carry Dreadnoughts in 8th Edition?

I am looking through my Codex: Space Marines, and I can't seem to find any mention of Drop Pods being able to carry Dreadnoughts. I know this was possible in 7th Edition (though I don't know if they could hold Venerable Dreadnought). Has this rule been changed in 8th?
Thanks

That's because they can't carry Dreadnoughts. They can only carry what they say they carry. What they could do in previous editions is irrelevant.

Assuming SM is the same as Dark Angels, no - Drops Pods can only carry INFANTRY* - dreadnoughts don't carry that keyword.
*And even then, no Terminators, Jump Packs or Primaris.
(unless this has been FAQ'd since the Codex)

Standard Drop pods can't carry a dreadnaught.
You need a Lucius Pattern Dreadnaught Drop pod

Unfortunately no. GW just hates anything marine in this edition and have done just about everything they can to either force you into taking Primaris units, or spamming lascannons and bolters.

I mean... let's ignore the fact that it makes no sense for Dreadnoughts to ride in the Drop Pod configured for ten power armored dudes AND the fact that there IS a Drop Pod designed to carry Dreadnoughts. You're looking for the Lucius Pattern Drop Pod, the rules for which can be found in the appropriate FW Index book (whichever one has Astartes units). GW/ FW doesn't currently sell a dedicated Lucius Pattern Drop Pod, so I'd imagine most people would allow you to take the plastic kit, despite it being smaller.
I don't think this is a secret war GW is waging against Space Marine players. That feels a little melodramatic.

They might be trying to have people take Stormravens for moving a Dread around.

Except a stormraven is mostly useless for FW dreadnaughts, while a luscious pod is Ok for even a Leviathan, that said deathwatch get to deepstrike one for CP.

Deredeo and Leviathan are both 14 wounds a stormraven can only carry redeptor or lighter dreadnaughts.

Did I miss a FAQ? Where is the Wound restriction from?

No idea. My codex says it can carry a DREADNOUGHT but not a redemptor. Nothing in the faq I can see.

Not codex FAQ the Forgeworld index FAQ.
Also you need to get the FAQ's from the GW site as some of the FAQ's have been revised more than once.

This is correct.
The FAQ is in a weird location, as you'd expect it to errata the Stormraven, not the Dreadnoughts. But I guess GW didn't want any GW rules source to directly reference Forgeworld, which I sort of understand.
But yeah, no Deredeos or Leviathans in Stormravens.
If you want to dump a dreadnought in your opponent's face, there is always the option of a Custodes Contemptor using their Teleport strat (it's a valid target!). Whether that's worth the CP investment will depend on your army composition of course.

You take out the marine harness rig and squeeze the dreadnought in then, when it lands, the dreadnought awkwardly waddles sideways out of the hatch, furiously sucking its belly in.

Uh... it makes no sense to use the plastic model for dreadnoughts, so people should use the plastic model for dreadnoughts, just with different rules...?

A model is just a representation, a symbol. Its not true scaled. Vehicles like rhinos and land raiders would have to be much bigger if they were the same scale as marines.
