So I have side cutters for trimming off sprue neatly without leaving sprue marks behind, and which I use for the big strokes on conversions like hacking limbs off.

I also have a couple very good xacto knives for the finer work, like trimming down a model or cutting off pieces of trim or decoration I don't want (or am moving elsewhere).

But sometimes I need to do really fine work, like trying to remove emblems and imperial markings from armour (for chaos conversions). And I've been using the tip of the xacto for that so far, which... Works. But is a little tricky and hard to get a good finish and, frankly, I'm probably living on borrowed time before I take off a fingertip haha.

So I've tried looking for like... I dunno. Plastic sculpting tools or something. But they're always things for either clay (too big and wrong type of tool), or they're for modelling with greenstuff (and I already have those kind of tools). But they're blunted, as greenstuff is soft, and sculpting plastic needs a sharper or pointier and to scrape away.

I assume this is a normal thing for converters to have, and that I'm just using the wrong terminology when searching (pretty new to this kind of conversion). Is there a thing I should be using?

I use disposable medical scalpels for trimming and shaving fine details. Not sure if they're easy to get though as I just order them from work.

i use a small folding knife for flash removal/mold line removal and detail removal.
the blade edge is dulled down exept for 1cm of the tip, but it aint razor sharp either, i can touch the bladetip whitout cutting myself.
for cutting big pices of plastic i have a plastic hobby saw.

there is a general tool called Needle Files, that is small files ment for small detail handwork and they come in many shapes. you might want to look at that.
