So i have a non detailed armor peice for my titanicus reaver titan to paint, but i want the non detialed version cuz i dont want to lock my titants to a spesific visual style.
http://oi64.tinypic.com/2s00cns.jpg

thing is, my skill is only at tabletop quality. my highlights is limited to edge highliting or shade washes, and i cant see any of thouse working here.
i dont want or need to paint better then tabletop quality but just a flat colour will be horribly dull and battle scars alltough authentic, is something i dont want to do. i was thinking of doing non GW water transfers but i cant find any cuz that marked is apprently only for ww2 airplanes.

so what can i do, and how can i do it? the base colour will be GW castellan green.

That, or maybe just a long stripe down the middle to break up the surface a bit. You can use Tamiya masking tape to do this, so you don't have to freehand anything and it'll add detail while maintaining the un-weathered look.

Also, Bandai makes tons of water transfer sheets for their Gundam models with generic caution markings, big numbers and such.

Well doesn't that picture kind of show where light shines off? Highlight those areas. Flat area but it still has highlights.

I dont want traditional highlight cuz i cant get a hold of the techinc. I have tryed to learn blending but i cant get smooth blends, i only get ugly edges.
thats why my only method of highlighting has been shadwashes and edge highlighting, but there are no edges on that surface.

Lines as suggested could deffo be an option, need to get to my dealer to get a hold of masking tape tough if i go that way, hazard stripes i think will look too odd for that spesific armor plate.
I have to check the Bandai stuff, i know nothing about gundam models.

I just use normal painter’s tape. Occasionally I get a little paint that seeps under the tape, but not often.
