Some tyranid players are bring lists with 1 nid detachment and one GSC detachment. They then bring an auxiliary support D of a single platoon commander and give him the warlord trait grand strategist and kurov's aquila. However when he becomes a GSC unit he loses the regiment keyword and it is replaced with battle brothers. Only models with 'regiment,' 'militarum tempestus' or 'officio prefectus' characters can take the grand strategist warlord trait. Militarum Tempestus counts as a regiment so only commissars and lord commissars can take grand strategist, and neither of them has the 'officer' keyword. So in order to take both grand strategist and kurov's aquila you need a commissar and a commander. Cheapest way to do this is in a patrol detachment. So you need either a company commander/commissar lord HQ, infantry squad, and either a platoon commander/commissar at an elite slot. Make sure NID players are aware of this, thanks

In My Lab

Regiment is replaced by Brood Brothers in the same way it's replaced by Catachan or Cadian.

In other words, it's still legit.
