If you have a psyker casting psychic barrier on your bullgryns with a brute shield, and you play take cover on them, they have a 2+ inv sv against shooting attacks and 3+ against CC attacks.

I read about that strategy before and it definitely sounds pretty damn strong. I think it would suit footsloggers better, and for them all to be in one unit though, which doesnt help me too much with my brigade. I could foresee a slightly different list with veterans in the chimeras and a big blob of bullgryns buffed by a priest and psyker. Would that be a stronger list do you think?

Honestly I don't like it, you need much more shooting considering that you will never, never win a battle by charging in with 5-600 pts of Sentinels and Bullgryns!! For example, I don't see how you could deal with 2-3 Imperial Knights, with Magnus/Mortarion, or with 150 cultists.
First of all, Yarrick is not worth those points, much better to have some Tank Commanders instead. Secondly, I don't think your squishy meatshields... ahem... Glorius Infantry Squads should cost 60 pts each - and I really don't like Autocannons, Mortars are much much better considering the ridiculous cost. 6 squads, 4 with mortars and plasma guns, 2 with nothing to act purely as a screen, will cost 288 instead of 354. I think I would try to include some Astropaths, but if you want to try ONE unit of 4-5 bullgryins to counter-charge any weakened enemy it's fine. I never tried the priest, so I won't talk about it. The sentinels are meant to shoot stuff and, more importantly, to tie them in melee to keep them from dealing damage to some more important units of yours, so keep them cheap (but the flamer is good). Finally, I would cut the Chimeras: you don't need to go anywhere, the opponent has to come to you!
Now, with the points from the Chimeras, the infantry and Yarrick you should be able to add 2 tank commanders, and they do make a difference!
PS btw instead of a Brigade, wich compels you to play a fixed amount of non-essential stuff like Sentinels and Elite choices, I would really go for 2 battalions and possibly a spearhead. Pask, 3 tank commanders, 1 commander, 6 infantry squads and every remaining point goes in Heavy Support units! Especially Manticores and Heavy Weapons teams with Mortars, you will love them

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I shouldve prefaced this by saying these are all models that I have so im kind of trying to make the best of what I got. However I do think you have some great points, and what you are suggesting is probably more effective.
I know mortars are amazing, I just dont own any as of now (lets face it, they were pretty irrelevant before 8th) and its something I would have to get quite a few more of. Definitely looking into it though. I do own like 5 russes so utilizing all of those could definitely be an option.
I also own 3 baneblades (of different varieties), do you think its viable at all to spend the extra points i could get from removing chimeras, autocannons, and bullgryns to take a superheavy tank? Or maybe a knight?

I'm sorry, I didn't think that could be the case. Since you have 5 Russes, though, I guess the only thing you might be missing are the mortars themselves; in that case, I'll suggest you a little trick. If you buy a Heavy Weapons box, not only you have 3 mortars, but you can also take the missile lancher and mix them with the pieces of the Autocannon structure (the 3-leg base and the screen on top) to make them really look like mortars. If you just have a few spare miniatures to complete the 2-men team, you'll have 6 mortars with just one box!
This said, about the BB I really don't know what to tell you. Considering that nowadays all army lists are evolving to face a metagame full of Knights etc, I think just one super-heavy would be thrashed in no time by most enemies... My guess is, you should take 3 or none at all, but of course that would mean changing everything else too. Dunno, just try them a couple times against some tough opponents and see for yourself! ^^
