Currently among my painting projects are pair of gorkanauts and stompa. Was thinking of putting some weathering on these eventually. Particularly feet I would like dirty. Was already looking at various shades of brown etc from my airbrush colours but then thought would the feet actually become brown while fighting in city? Would there be enough mud etc or would some other colour(grey?) be more appropriate for weathering seeing my models are on cityfight bases?

Thanks.

Cities have dirt and mud, be it from urban planter and parks, wind carrying particles, runoff from surrounding underdeveloped areas, overflowing waterways, even from below the surface of streets (unless it's a hive city elevated far above the natural ground).
In an urban warzone there tends to be pulverized dust from buildings blown a part.
So yeah, you could do muted browns, pale greys, desaturated khaki tan colors, terracotta reds.

Small detail ideas:
If your stompa walked through a building, aside from dust there might be bits of construction stuck on certain flat surfaces (look up "killdozer" images for examples of this).
For the feet: trash, food wrappers and squashed cups stuck to surfaces and crevices.

The weathering you're talking about is done with dry powder, from FW or Flames of war or ebay; done at the last step after you've finished painting, sealed with sprayed matte varnish.

Flames had 'European dust, concrete' which are viable, FW have light brown which is suitable.

EDIT: dry powders achieve effects you cannot otherwise do with painting, very easy to apply, simple apply desired areas with a dry brush tip, blow/brush away excess, I typically do it around the boots, lower end of long coats, exhaust tips, muzzles, tracks, etc.

Ak interactive. Best weathering products there are. Powders and streaking fluids would give the effect you want.
