I've wanted to do an Imperial Navy force for boarding actions and landing parties for a long time. I just never had quite the right environment to do it or the will to convert up the dozens of underlings that would be needed for a normal scale 40k game. With the introduction of a mainstream Kill Team game and the Rogue Trader expansion, I think the time is right.

Initially I was disappointed the RT Kill Team wasn’t customizable, but looking at the characters introduced (still need the rules) I think I could reasonably proxy what’s in the list as a Navy crew as follows:
Vhane = Captain
Prond = Fleet Commissar
Grauss = Navigator
Minst = Ratling Chef
Aximillion = Gyrinx (I’m not a cat person, I just happened to have one left over from a Corsairs army)
Nitsch = Lieutenant
Voidsmen = Ratings (Skilled crew that exist below petty officer ranks but above the indentured crew)

With that, I set to work:

And then added some refinements.

I'm also trying the Captain with a sword. I think it looks more Navy-like as the sword seems to be a pretty important part of IN culture from the Jes Goodwin sketches. Any opinions on duelist vs. Gunslinger?

Next up is the greenstuffing to add the IN details to the officers, and the helmet to the faceless rating.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone put together any Imperial Navy stuff before, excellent idea. It also gives you the option of making a naval security squad to go with them, like the ones in the Eisenhorn novels (maybe counts as Tempestus?).

The conversions are really nice, looking forward to seeing what you do with the green stuff.

I'd 100% go with the sword on the Captain - someone that important and prestigious would totally have a sword in 40K.

I do think the handguard on the captain's sword could do with being more rounded and wider if you were going for the traditional naval cutlass look, although that's just personal preference as there were historical examples that are kind of similar to the one you're using.

Been busy with work, but I've finally managed to get some greenstuff onto the officers.

I think he definetely needs the sword. Ties him together with this guy;

I guess you've already seen all this stuff, as you mentioned Jes Goodwin?

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Excellent conversions- I'll be watching this closely as I have wondered about converting a kill-team/boarding party group as well- lead the way!
