I've been wondering if Magnus was actually directed as soon as he first bargained with Chaos. I mean when so many other accounts show that chaos has their claws around the person that bargains straight away. I've been thinking about it, Magnus was incredibly intelligent and the first chosen to lead Chaos before Horus, maybe they figured out that Magnus could could destroy the webway and settled on Horus.

Tzeentch can't see the future, but Kairos can. It's possible that Magnus was used for the specific purpose of ensuring the webway project never came to fruition, though it's just as likely that he was chosen because Tzeentch liked his "progress at any cost" attitude and Magnus destroying the webway was just a bonus Tzeentch didn't foresee originally.

My gut feeling is that Magnus had indeed been a pawn of Tzeetch from the beginning

He can see the future just not as clearly or as many possible futures as big K. Tzeentch could have seen a new thread of fate weaved that was very strong in its possibility when Magnus made his deal. We know that actions create new fates in the warp.

I wonder what Magnus was like before he made the deal, that would be a great story to tell in a BL novel.

I think Magnus was being manipulated from the second he made the original deal with Tzeentch. It was extremely subtle at first, but then grew and grew until... yeah. I think Tzeentch planned to manipulate Magnus into destroying the webway from the very beginning... it makes sense and aligns with how Tzeentch operates.

Tzeentch might not be able to see the future but he can certainly guide you down a tricksy path to reach a desired outcome. Sometime is plans will go awry but with Magnus he pulled his strings and Magnus danced along, just as planned.

No pity, no remorse, no shoes
