I've found some topics considering DG but nothing like other tactica ones so there is one now .

Considering faq flail took a hit... With D1 right now it has mich lower chance of taking OoA enemy models... Cleaver seems now to be viable option again, especially against primaris or other multiwound stuff

Well, it seems like playing with a sideboard certainly makes more sense.

Flail for hordes and Cleaver for the elite armies.

I think it would depend on the army. DG can outshoot just about everyone. Blight launcher, plasma, melta, or one of two vomit weapons.

Melee options seem like they're good at being scary now (veteran+pre-move) and counter charging. But they aren't game enders alone.

Yup.
Let us hope also to get some useful and cheap tactics... Spending 2 CP to 16% chance to cause mortal wound seems kinda expensive :(.

DG has some useful tactics in your opinion? Never hady any luck with them. 4 out of 6 needs rolling dice which cannot be rerolled

The flail is still amazing it does 3d3 attacks with combat specailist and each of those attacks can spawn d3 more attacks. That is a very powerful weapon still.

I think that if before 2 fighters both with Flails was the perfect setup (as long as 2 Gunners with BLs or BL+PG), now 1 Flail and 1 G.Plague Cleaver might be a good viable setup

There's no two ways about it; losing that extra damage on the flail is a significant nerf. It's no longer the absolute best melee weapon in the whole game, but that doesn't mean it's bad. We can still use it generously across many games. Other posters are correct in that the Great Plague Cleaver or Mace of Contagion are now viable MEQ slayers.

The question I'm not sure of is: what really is better? That volume of attacks the flail provides is basically a guaranteed wound against your target(s), but with only 1 damage you could pump 7 wounds into somebody and they'd still walk away unscathed. With the nature of melee in KT, we want to kill all our targets in one round of combat on the charge and consolidate into somebody else. Otherwise we're sitting ducks.

I'm thinking the Great Plague Cleaver on a combat specialist might be the answer. Risky only hitting on fours with just three attacks, but against MEQ it's essentially an auto-kill if you do hit. Wounding on 2+ re-rolling ones at AP -3 with D6 damage is great... if you roll over about 2 damage. It's that frightful piece of RNG that makes me hesitant. Ultimately, it all seems to come down to that damage roll. If you could take the Mace of Contagion on its own, I'd be tempted to say that's now the king.

Have to post that after the FAQ my playstyle is different and I've had solid wins with the following "up in close and personal -style":

Leader - plague champion + plasma gun + plaguesword
Demolitions - plague gunner + plague spewer
Combat - plague fighter + mace of contagion + bubotic axe
Zealot - plague fighter + flail of corruption
Plague gunner + blight launcher
2x poxwalker

Might swap the demo to veteran, but added bunch in wounding with several hits has been murder, also in overwatch. I move tjr cc fighters and the spewer in group and even if one dies I still get to bring the pain. I had some thoughts between a cleaver and the mace, but so far even with only -1 ap the three damage a hit has been even better true killer than the downtuned "horde killer" flail.

So I've been looking through the Commanders book and the big stand outs for me are the Blightspawn with Logistics, and the Tallyman with Leadership.

Logistics has tactics to increase Strength and AP of the plague sprayer and a great ability tree to buff even further with range and damage.

Leadership will help friendly Plagues and Pox walkers with morale. I would like to try a fun fluffy list with a level 2 (or 3) Tallyman surrounded by pox walkers, making them "fearless"
