Has anyone got any word from GW on why SW's have no chapter specific special rules? They are the only chapter with no unique special rules.

Uuh +1 to hit in h2h IS their chapter specific rule. Or since when ultramarines gets +1 to hit in h2h? Blood angels? Raven guard? Salamanders? If that's not chapter specific rule then logically all marines would have it.

They do have one, see page 134. I get what you're thinking, there's no additional rules on the "common rules among some units in this codex" ala the black rage in blood angels or, inner circle in dark angels, but space wolves don;t have any common special abilities across their armies, for the most part, other then their chapter tactics. although I suppose they could have saved a little bit of room on individual sheets and puit the bloodclaws/Swiftclaws/Skyclaws bezerk charge there.

No that is NOT their chapter specific rule. Everyone gets battle forged special rules and their army specific rules. Space wolves have 'battle forged' special rules but they don't get 'chapter specific' rules. All other marines get their specific chapter rules and they get battle forged rules.

So rather than adding a "special rule", instead they've given the entire Chapter increased stats.
I take it you mean the equivalent of the Dark Angels' Grim Resolve rule on p134 of their Codex? "In addition, INFANTRY, BIKER and DREADNOUGHT units (other than SERVITOR units) in Dark Angels Detachments and Dark Angels successor Chapter Detachments also gain the Grim Resolve ability."

Yeah its a great rule, but its one, where as everyone else gets specifics and its only valid for a battle forged army. Plus the fluff. I'd rather they gave us that as a chapter rule and gave us nothing for the battle forged.

Like all SM they get defenders of humanity if battle forged and a detachment trait (you don't need to be battle forged to have Hunters unleashed as far as I understand, it's additional). + ATSKNF since they are marines.
EDIT : battle forged needed.

All (most ? At least IG doesn't I think) armies have a battle forged bonus to troop, a detachment trait and a racial rule. ATSKNF is a racial rule.

I mean, Grey Knights get +1 to Psychic checks and nerfed Smite. That's technically two special rules but I'm not sure it's something you should aspire to...

TBH, I'm not exactly sure what you're saying anymore. SW have 3 rules, like most (and there is no more than 3 rules per army afaik). And all armies have to be battle forged to benefit from their detachment trait.

And what do all other chapters have? They have two battle forged rules and astartes rule and a chapter specific. Listen I'm not interested in dabating people with other armies as so far its 'you have enough.' that's not the point. If you collected Astartes you'd say oh yeah I wonder why that is.

.
I play DA, they have defender of humanity and grim resolve if battle forged and atsknf as every SM. Care to point what other rule they have ?
I also play eldar, they have the exact same thing, objective secured and detachment trait if battle forged + a racial trait. What's up ?
I also play SoB, they have objective secured and a racial trait, no detachment ability. I should open a new thread.

They also have jink.
Eldar and SoB are irrelevant to this argument.
Its about parity with other loyalist astartes.

And Inner circle and the deathwing keyword and stuff. These aren't army abilities though, they are units' specific abilities. Or did you mean SW don't have any other ability anywhere outside of their chapter trait ?
Consider Berserk charge as being explained before the army list instead of on each unit and you have a jink equivalent...

That's not what it says on 4chan, it says its a army special rule. Is it listed under the special rules part, because its not unit specific, its ravenguard specific from what I'm reading. Bezerk charge isn't an army spacial rule.

No I'm not. I'm just stating on 4chan the rules state that its an army rule and its 4chan warhammer wiki. Its a credible source for tactics and army info.

It's explained in a chapter before the army list because it's an ability common to multiple units. Just as berserk charge is an ability common to multiple units and could have been managed the same way. The fact that it didn't, doesn't mean SW are getting an "unfair" treatment.
And yeah, forget 4chan and open a codex.

I'm going to hazard a guess you wanted someone to bite with an irrational answer so here we go: "they smell like wet dogs and have other nifty rules, so we couldn't think of anything else just to upset the odd person"
If you want a genuine answer, what would you give them that is fluffy and adds value to the army really? There isn't anything they need that desperately, but if you want a logical comparison:
Raven guard get -1 to hit at range, space wolves get a dozen or so unique units

And Inner circle and the deathwing keyword and stuff. These aren't army abilities though, they are units' specific abilities. Or did you mean SW don't have any other ability anywhere outside of their chapter trait ?
Consider Berserk charge as being explained before the army list instead of on each unit and you have a jink equivalent...
That's not what it says on 4chan, it says its a army special rule. Is it listed under the special rules part, because its not unit specific, its ravenguard specific from what I'm reading. Bezerk charge isn't an army spacial rule.
Ok, this is getting silly. You're getting worked up over perceived differences based on what's on 1d4chan...
I'm out.
No I'm not. I'm just stating on 4chan the rules state that its an army rule and its 4chan warhammer wiki. Its a credible source for tactics and army info.
1d4chan is literally the worst source for any tactics. That's the website that defended the 7th edition incarnation of Rubric Marines.
